Have seen this happen and how i see it you are racing old birds as they was bred in 09 so to me they are old birds if raced in 2010 the only thing that will be hard is loft flying and getting them down the road as they will hit some hawks if trained very early. when they have been open age races in my area the young birds are all ways in front of the old birds some good cash can be won racing how you are thinking of trying if the bird had been rung with a 09 ring and 10 ring you can race it with the old and young bird races but i not do that myself. they was a post that they was 2010 rings on ebay.

use a scalpel to cut the skin and push the yellow protein out. you can do this when they are as big as a pea very easy to do.

myself i like to fix it my way as it is healed in days not weeks.

looking at your droppings the barley you are feeding is very poor grade stuff. my birds have 50% barley in there mix but there droppings are like peas.

how come you let it get that big. you can just cut the flesh and push out the protein when they are very small and let heal.

feeding cheese is not a new thing and the birds love it lots of top flyer feed it to they birds as a starter

The colour is very nice but i like them to win races for me. Blues and cheq are very boring so i like to try some thing that not many have had a go at every one has raced the whites so i like some thing new if they win that's good but if they do not i had fun trying.

i like to try a little team of say 6 to race was thinking of making a little loft like Jim Jinner had on his dvd just for my own fun.

i do not want to post the loft that the picture is from so i have cut the bird out and but it on a background. am wanting to see how many flyers have any thing like them in the uk.

you have to look at your pigeons and see what they need that's the only way. if you read what some say they only feed one mix but they do not say that they add to it at some point.

low protein last 5 feeds.

they was very good birds and they was a big type . when LPW first got them some members in my club had them and they was winning for fun. But they did go for the very best of what was there not the rubbish before they had time to sort the best breeders out .

you have to look on the bags of feed and see what the mix is made up of. as they are so many brands of corn to pick from you need to see what works for your birds this can take time but when you get the right mix stick to it. every one do not feed the same as we all do not race the same. what works for flyer A is no good for flyer B all down the the pigeons you have

Diet mix. This is the thing they are two types that are called diet mix one is to stop the weight I.E resting and one is high in fat to use in the last feeds for racing for energy. hope that help

next door has traps set up all the time. best thing for them is to put some fish out with some thing in it lol. they do not live long after that. mink are not a big problem for us but this time of year is hawks so are birds will have to stay in. the wire that i have up at my loft is very strong so they can not get in been there seen what happens.
