  1. I must agree about the consistancy of the forecasts they don't seem to do us any favours Maybe on reflection it is best to be at the race point and double your chances and there is always the old adage "Safety in numbers" Three reported to date in our club from Sunday Gretna,Eccelfechan & Carlisle
  2. Next two weeks from Otterburn. Last week Lanarkshire went up on Saturday we didn't basket until Saturday evening Aberdeen were also at St Boswells but not sure when they went up we were up Sunday at 9-30am with no apparant hicups and weather was fine at the home end. I think Percy may well be the problem and the birds scattered it will be interesting to see how many are reported all my birds carry a blue tel.no ring 01389 .I now have 5 back out of 18
  3. Glasgow were at St Boswells on the Sunday weather was fine you may well be right (as others have said) lonely sky ideal for "percy" the unfortunate thing for us our last three races were from Cockenzie and returns were good but it is way out on the East Coast so St Boswells is on a different line of flight so do our birds fly north then due West as one Denny fancier remarked to me Glasgow birds go over his loft on race days. It would be interesting to fit GPS and see where the get their line home. ours North,West and then due North again pure supposition on my part but they will not fly over the Kilpatrick hills and head for Dumbarton and then up the Leven Valley adds miles to their journey
  4. Alf, heard the clydebank sec only had 9 out of 29 don't know if he has had any since but it has effectively put a large dent in my young bird season
  5. There was a Frenchman on today re pigeon rings I think clockman done the translation for all the non French speaking members must have to do with the "Auld Alliance" ;D
  6. North East of England are honorary Scots ;D ;D ;D
  7. Hi Bandit - sorry was 09 with blue race rubber now over in Renton for it's holidays.
  8. Bigda - Don't know about the Fed but Alexandria club got slaughtered 9 members sent 147 birds and all have big losses at least half their y/b entries. I hear that Clydebank also had high losses Weather was ok so don't know if there was some clashing Thanks 67ghirl
  9. Dropped 14 from Sundays race all Gb rung S with one exception N. All carry tel no rings
  10. Just in - Flown out - mate does not have computor access - maybe bought in or Irish bird off course
  11. They are I think West Strathclyde not sure but it seems they had a terrible race last week.
  12. Just market them as Quails then you can double the price ;D ;D ;D
  13. We race pigeons in Scotland and we all know what the weather can be like I think it's trying to find the balance/happy medium which keeps everyone happy but then you quote "George Washington" about pleasing the people that says it all with no disrespect to anyone's opinions..
  14. No just bring them back Set up a stall at roadside "Barbecued Pigeons for sale" ;D ;D :'(
  15. Rather an extra night in the loft than two in the basket JMO especially with feathers falling all over the place and with the heat will be more stressfull for the y/b even with ventilation system in place You can feel the heat in your car when you transport them from the loft to the club multiply that by 2 or 300 and you could cook in it.
  16. We elect the controller at the AGM and it is his call - remember the old saying "Too many Cooks spoil the broth" I have not always been happy with some of the liberations but I am prepared to go with the controllers judgement there is always the next AGM to vote that is if anyone will take the job
  17. That's pigeon racing for you dammed if you do dammed if you don't
  18. Babybird hope this is not 'basics answer to speed dating ;D ;D ;D
  19. That seems to be the problem,no two sites are the same - The weather channel shows wall to wall rain Sat & Sun.Just like today it was glorious this morning then rain, rain & more rain Like to give the y/b the best chance as the feathers are starting to fall and not as tight and waterproof as they should be.Rather have them back than a medal or all back and the medal. ;)
  20. Which one was that????????
  21. IN days past Arthur & Mary Mellor of Cheshire raced a good Gurney but don't know where their birds went maybe some of the local Cheshire fanciers would know
  22. Nice to see you have a personal secretary ;D ;D ;D
  23. Hope it stays over there, bad enough with hawks Now giant cats, what next? :-/ :-/
  24. The sickening thing is they sit in their "IVORY TOWERS" get well paid, excellent pension and still rip off the public through "expenses" and have the audacity to say it was a genuine mistake. Ten years later it would still have been a mistake IF THEY HADN'T BEEN FOUND OUT > > > Then tell us don't do as I do,do as I say or you are off to jail.
  25. Yes "B" ring from Graham (bird swap) Shu lost the transfer (but kept the cash) - the others were bought in but none from Louella was waiting for the transfers. Lost 20 off the loft in one day . Also Gb2009V34055 And yes I did log them in the LOST section Under Lost Y/B
