    TELFORD SHOW

in the blue square north :(better watching paint dry, ;D good show last year dampend due to defra and the bird flu scare, but still enjoyed it.will better this year even if it is only one day.unless we have a flu scare, credit crunch, and shilling for the electric.only 5 miles from me.
  10. New .Only started this year ,joined a club bred some pigeons ,never raced due to bad weather ,birds not well, working on marking nights, lost a couple to a hawk, lost six to a fox, polecat got 2 , :(still got twenty for next year obs,...met some great people young and old ,gifted birds by the fancy, club members always helpful, never witnessed any bad feeling in the club same people in the first three each week, cant wait till next year.lots of ups and downs and a lot more to come,..Its a hobby to me not my life,if people upset me ill strap a pair on and theyd better do the same.thats not confrontational, its life in general .having fun homebird.
  11. Thought about going to Jimmys sale and im glad his birds sold for a good price, well above me both price and my ability at the moment. So we went to the sale at Lostock of Haven lofts, not a lot of people there and I got 2 red hens Busschearts that come from a family of winners that have winning blood lines bred by the owner that have been developed scince 1978.paid £20.each, a working lads price that may breed a club winner.which will be a good start for me. I met the breeder a very nice gent with lots of experience and a winning loft,so time will tell if they are good for me ,but one things for sure im not goining to lose any sleep over them at the prices they cost, no pressure ,still fun and a hobby .good luck to all the buyers a jimmys sale it was a good cause
  12. Good of you to give some time up to help others well done.
  13. Glad it made you laugh :)pitty you where not there, it was like listening to the two old boys of the muppets. ;)plenty of material to make a sit com at our club meets.mind you that was a corker of yours telling the lad with the sick pigeon to go to church and pray ;D ;D
  14. funny ,at the weekend i was listening to two older members at the club on this subject and one old boy said the other was blowing the whistle to get the birds in to the loft and the other said he would be better shoving it up his ar s for all the good it was doing ..only new to racing myself so still got an open mind on this one
  15. sounds like your doing a great job yourself as for passing it on to another person, yes they may know more than you ?But the owner is responsilble for the welfare of his bird and the transport problem ,just playing on your good nature maybe :-/ anyway well done for being a careing animal lover.
  16. Hi mate if you do live in Walsall you could do alot worse than contacting Mark Evans at 39 castle view rd moxley bilston tel 01902 495506, very helpful man and he knows all the flyers in your area. Go and have a look at his shop .I am sure he will help you. best of luck.
  17. Havnt had pigeons that long but Ive got a number of straines ,all stock birds from different people so there could be a number of reasons for the different traites that I have observed in them.So a conclusion may not be formed on my findings but I am sure the more experiened members on Basics will have a more informed idea as to an answer to you question. But for what its worth ill give you my findings on the stock birds sofar. The Busschearts seem to be the first to settle when put together and look to be good feeders also the cross pairs Janssens x Busschearts all have one well. The Janssens have been steady, but the Vanreets and the Gabbys have taken longer to settle and seem to be more flighty ,thier pedigrees are a lot closer together (inbred). So from a breeding point of view the Busscheart seems to be the one that is working well for me even the 07 ones and the Janssens are a close second. As for racing ill find out this summer.Wish you luck with this question but I think the answer will be they work well for one flyer and not for another.
  18. Thread is getting better 8) great young birds
  19. very smart, hope you do well, all the best.
  20. Let the tipplers and tumblers out, flying around lovely showing off, just coming back to land. Then it came like a racing car from around the other side of the house and hit the tippler from behind just over the top of the stables, feathers flew, I ran round the back and found the sparrow hawk sitting in the grass no sign of the tippler, the hawk then flew off across the field being mobbed by the crows that live in the oak trees by the house.I searched for the tippler and found it in a large bush I picked it out still alive not a mark on it .Looks like ive got a problem .You knowe its out there just waiting to come back, and the tipplers and tumblers seem to be more alert. My young racebirds have been walking out and jumping back through the open doors.
  21. looks great like picture two .Full of hope, nice to lookforward, hope they doo.... well for you ,
  22. Lennut tar and doo It is a good place to race pigeons to and I am lucky to have the lofts here if I get good at the racing side it will get bigger here, theres a row of pig styes that will make some stock lofts and a 2/3rds of an acre that was an old garden that could have some upto date lofts put on it but thats in the future. Need to walk first , :)As for the roof pitch you could have pigeons in there but it is a bit crowded what with the bats and the Ghost ;D
  23. looks great its nice getting started good luck
