3/9 sent.Timed 4.27, 6.00 and next morning at 8.30.Two of these will figure in result.Dont know where west birds are.Same story most years, but weather was perfect this year and still returns terrible.Maybe sections B,C and G should be liberated at different time from sections A,D,E and F.Then I suppose you would have people say that this is not a National, but in my opinion it is not a National just now.The south east corner dominate every year, then the birds hit Dunbar, then Edinburgh, Dundee,Fife,Central Fed,40 minutes later the birds start to appear in the west section.I fly 261mls from Leicester but I reckon my ybs have to fly 300mls to get home.We have to be looking to make things fairer and more a level playing field
  2. BELIEVE ME .YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED DISASTER RACES UNTIL YOU HAVE FLOWN FROM SOLWAY RACE POINTS.IF OUR BIRDS ARE LIBERATED IN ANYTHING BAR A SOUTH WIND THEN THERE ARE BIG LOSSES EVERY TIME. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS FLYING DOWN THE EAST,AT LEAST, FOR THE FIRST 100 MILES
  3. FACT. NO ACCUSATION WAS MADE
  4. I got another 2 early Sunday morning. Now 13/28, absolute disaster, the worst yb race I have ever had and I have probably the best returns in club.I know what you mean about going down that route Andy, our club have tried to change it every year at the AGM but they wont listen.
  5. Midland Fed at Gretna. I have 11/28 after 8 hours. distance 77 mls.Beware , stay clear of Gretna

The majority of people I have spoke to , dont really care where we go , as long as we get a half decent race , with birds getting home

    Returns

We, Scottish Midland Fed, up on Saturday from Garstang, very funny race with big gaps and a lot of empty perches on Saturday night. 1st and 2nd club but my returns very poor.26/40 getting 2 of these this morning totally gutted.
  8. MIDLAND FED AT APPLEBY, PHONE BACK AT 1300 HOURS

    how did you do?

    Sent 22 got 19.Flying from Gretna approx 78mls of running the gauntlet.Was 1st and 4th winning £50+
  10. The article is fantastic, Jim Hannah is mentioned and it says he was 2nd Open Chenoise with Lady Linda. That isnt correct as Lady Linda was bred and raced by me.( although she was a brilliant national pigeon herself winning 7th Open ) Jims 2nd Open bird was named Little Wonder. Derek Hay
  11. Give them what they want in the last week.( preferably high in carbs )Make them as happy and contented as possible. The birds tell you themselves when they are right. Last year I noticed one of my cocks treading another cock and this was totally out of character for this bird, so he was sent to the SNFC Gold cup race and won 2nd west section.
  12. Isnt it funny how we would not have confidence in an o.b when it is out on its 5th flight and yet we send inexperienced y.bs to races in the same condition and think they are capable of doing the business for us. I know of plenty of birds that have scored in the S.N.F.C after throwing 2 flights at once, so would that not be an indication of super form.
  13. I agree with me, cos I am that SNFC committee member. To answer Square pegs question, the both Lanarkshire Fed SNFC committee members had both resigned ( well before the end of the year ) from the National committee before the Maidstone issue was brought up at an SNFC meeting. So in there defense, they may not have been aware of the SNFC convoying feds to Maidstone, hence them not reporting back to the Lanarkshire Fed.But, I am certain all the officials of L.F were contacted and made aware of the SNFC's plans for 2007.Every fed is treated equally by the SNFC and everything done with the best intentions in taking the pigeon sport in Scotland forward. Cheers, Derek Hay
  14. Midland feds 2 open races are with SNFC fom Newbury and Maidstone. Forward thinking, I would say

    YOUNG BIRDS

I HAVE NOT PAIRED UP YET BUT I AM IMPRESSED WITH YOU STEVIE IN GETTING ALL YOUR BIRDS LAYING AT SAME TIME. DID YOU TAKE THEIR FIRST EGGS AWAY FROM THEM, SO THEY WOULD GO DOWN ON 2ND ROUND TOGETHER?

    General trend?

I HAVE APPLIED TO JOIN THE LANARKSHIRE SOCIAL CIRCLE . MY INTENTIONS ONLY TO FLY IN THE LONGER RACES. I DID NOT GET IN EVEN THOUGH I AM SITTING FURTHEST NORTH WEST AND WOULD BE FLYING THE FURTHEST. MY FRIEND WHO FLIES IN THE CLUB IS SITUATED 500 YARDS FROM ME. I KNOW THE OFFICIALS OF THE CLUB WOULD WELCOME ME IN IN A MINUTE, ( BECAUSE THEY ARE DECENT OUT AND OUT DISTANCE FLIERS ) BUT THERE WERE SOME FANCIERS WHO TURNED UP AT THE A.G.M. JUST TO OPPOSE MY APPLICATION. YOU MAY THINK I MUST HAVE RUBBED SOMEONE UP THE WRONG WAY FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I STILL DONT KNOW THEIR REASONS FOR VOTING AGAINST ME. THIS CLUB WAS SUPPOSEDELY FORMED FOR DISTANCE FLIERS AND TOOK IN A MASSIVE RADIUS TO ACCOMODATE THESE SPECIALISTS, BUT SADLY NOT NOW AS I THINK THE SPRINT MEN ARE TAKING OVER THE CLUBS IDENTITY. I AM ONLY WANTING TO COMPETE AGAINST SOME OF THE BEST DISTANCE FLIERS IN SCOTLAND AND I CANNOT.
  17. who does raymond think is the best distance flier in holland and why?

    Nestmates

nest mate to nest mate is perfect for stock. put the off spring to another inbred bird from different family and let the pot boil. sometimes dynamite results

The weather here in the west was terrible, but enough pigeons were in to finish the prizes in an hour and a half.So you must say it turned out a decent race. Much better than last year when it took two full days to use up prizes.I agree with Andy that we should be further down the road with the birds in prep for the National but I also think we will never have a hope in hell of ever winning the yb nat here in the west, unless it was a disaster

I was fortunate to time the first one in the west at 15.46. The bird had been through alot of rain but apart from that she was in brilliant condition when she landed. Hats off to the race contol team for looking after the birds so well. I have 2 from 5 sent

    ETS

The unikon system is about £520.Thats everything you need An extra sensor pad is about £90 needed only if you were flying to more than one loft. Allotment flyers dont need electricity as the system can run off a 12 volt battery
  24. I was the first person to get a racing pigeon club grant from awards for all. I persevered for years and finally they gave in. I opened the door for every pigeon club in Britain to get a lottery grant. What you need is 1. A sound club constitution 2. A recent bank statement 3. A quote for goods you intend to purchase with grant. 4. Reasons why you need grant and what difference it would make to your community. 5. You have to show the lottery that your club is trying to raise money towards the goods it intends to purchase and not just relying on the grant. I hope this helps.

Hi folks, Derek Hay from the Midland fed here. The race at the weekend was a total wipeout. I have never known anything like it in my 30+ years in the game. I have 11 from 33 sent and I have by far the best returns in the area. My first bird came at noon on the second day and it was probably the second bird home from the convoy. Max Gray timed the only bird on the day vel.364 ypm
