  1. OH NO!!!!! It will never be equaled any other place :'( :'( :'(
  2. Certainly worth a try although sad for the guinea pig pigeons that have to suffer till the hawks and falcons learn this valuable lesson :-/ Also not all pigeon fanciers should be tarred with the same brush as wanting all raptors euthanized to save their pigeons, just a healthy balance on both sides would do
  3. Yes he knows how to handle a room full of rams and castration should be done at a very early age, dovey is too old for that now ;D ;D ;D believe me the thought of castration to any human soon brings them all into line ;D ;D ;D
  4. Depends on the size of the room and how you manage them, then again there is always castration
  5. It just seems everyone has the same goal but they are all playing different games and trying to score their own points, at the end of the day we all would win a lot easier if we come together as a team on neutral ground ********************

It looks like some things never change
  10. It must be different from up here in parts of Scotland, we are 3m and do not have to consult any neighbours, a good job as our next door neighbour hates them
  11. Out of interest why no ???
  12. If the shed has been there for a while without any objection then you should be fine regards that, the next thing would be objections to keeping birds in it or as the case may be letting birds out of it, you could say you have kept budgies in it for years
  13. Yes Jon is is so hard when you have whites but we made a decision early on to just get small amounts from as many fanciers as possible to avoid inbreeding and split them all the time so we have good strong stock, this year because we are racing we are going to pair winners to winners to improve our racing chances for the future, Duncan says we are not buying any more ;D
  14. Maybe "youed" better get someone to drafedd it ;D ;D ;D
  15. Check your missives and local authority rules. We have, as I am sure in all parts of Scotland, to keep any wooden structure 1m away from any boundaries and 3m from any buildings but that may vary from area to area and we have found that it depends on what inspector calls how strict they are with their measurements Some new houses now have missives that say you are not able to keep anything even cats and dogs, also we found out that it is not always your neighbours that object and cause you problems we had another fancier 1/2 a mile from us caused us a lot of problems due to vindictiveness and jealousy
  16. I never inbreed my whites, I have been gifted some and bought a lot of good stock from a lot of sources to avoid this and i still get the same, cocky hens and henny cocks. We have had a lot of good fanciers visiting us and all have the same problem There are in the main definite cocks and definite hens but we find there is always the exception to any rule, I will definitely try some of the new ones that have been posted as I have in the past paired up two hens and got four eggs and I have a pair of cocks that are as gay as you get and are totally inseparable
  17. I would just like to know and lend support if I knew what was going on so I could try at least to stop things like this happenning to my birds I am not fussy who heads it or how long it takes as long as the head shares his thoughts with the rest of the body not just the mouth JarGre said they have done loads of work yet no information has been given to potential activists willing to support this issue
  18. I find there is an exception to every rule except that if it lays eggs it's a hen ;D
  19. Can someone tell us what has been done so far regarding this? So we can lend our support if we want

They are all pigeons as opposed to doves or they are all doves as opposed to pigeons as pigeons are direct descendants to rock doves, people just like to call release pigeons "doves" as it markets better as love or peace doves which in the main are Logans and Busschaerts. Where as White doves "Barbary or magician doves" on the other hand have very little or no homing instinct so not very good for repeat releases in business The queens jubilee had 50 white pigeons released to mark the occasion and I know that one of them was owned by "the Fifer"

    soft egg

We get this some times with chickens, it is caused by a number of things, if it happens all the time it is a problem with the hen's oviducts ability to produce calcite, if it is a one of it could have been merely disturbed when the egg was being produced at this stage of development, we find is is normally a one off and nothing to do with deficiencies in feeding, some hens lay 300+ eggs a year unlike a pigeon which may only lay 8 if controlled up to 24 if left alone or in some cases a lot more if eggs are constantly just taken away but nowhere near the amount that chickens can lay and we never give our chickens calcium supplements or rarely do we give them grit
  23. Email Duncan dovescot@blueyonder.co.uk and he will help you get wood at a good price, he built this one from scratch but he says it depends on what style you want, what room you have or what you are wanting to spend He used 3x2 framing, weather board on the out sides, 18mm tongue and groove flooring, 6mm ply lining which can be changed if need be, 4x2 roof bearers, sterling board on the roof with metal sheeting and triple comb polypropylene on the aviary roof, so he says ;D
