yes i agree they should supply a box, but this particular courier doesnt, its ok for people who know a bit about birds and how to prepare a box for the bird, but someone who doesnt well thats a potential problem as they are not the owner and dont have a resposibility for the bird, but they are havin to supply a box adequete for the bird, and the courier saying that its the senders resposibility, should it not be the owners responsibility and the couriers for the transportation, i think the courier should be responsible for the birds welfare while in transit. below is a mail i sent to spds & the answer i received Hi John At present we do not supply pigeon boxes. It is the responsibility of the sender to ensure that the birds are adequately packaged for transport. We are in discussions with the Scottish Homing Union for them to supply boxes in the near future. Regards Andrew Ormsby > NAME = john cumming > EMAIL > COMMENT = what is your policy for the transportation of pigeons, does the customer have to supply the transportation box or does spds or the sub contractor do this as part of the service, i had a pigeon picked up today and when i asked the driver for a box he said he didnt have one, luckily i had an old pigeon carrying box from another courier, otherwise i would have had to get a box which most probably would not have been " fit for purpose " for the transportation of the pigeon or the bird not being transported at all, please adise on this matter. > > regards > > john cumming
