  1. managed to get a toss in albeit they hit some rain
  2. They managed pretty well for nearly 90 years Broon
  3. Watching the doos messing about in the rain, they seem to be enjoying it a lot more than I am Was hoping to get a decent training toss in at somepoint but we'll see what happens Going to a Birthday party tonight at a Golf club so should be cheap
  4. Firstly I am fairly impartial, enjoying racing the doos regardless of racepoints or who with and looking forward to a race from nearly 400 miles this weekend-if it goes ahead but Of the 5000 entered how many have been sent as the members have been given no choice if they want a race from the coast?? Our federation is one of many that have been forced into incorporating this race into their fed programme. This race counts towards ALL federation averages and if you are a member of the SNFC the logical thing to do is to duplicate into the race. I also feel had the inland races not been in the national programme this season most feds would have had very many more pigeons to send to support a federation open race or combine/amal this weekend. The SNFC Gold Cup race and indeed all channel events would most definately have had a better turn out as well. I suppose though money talks, money goes to money etc. Good luck to all at Eastbourne this weekend I hope your second
  5. Yeh you may only ever have them in that kinna form once.Might as well make the most of it
  6. Must've been in good order going to the Maidstone race
  7. Kings Cup Candidates only have five more nights in their lofts til basketting Has anybody on here ever sent a pigeon to the Kings Cup that had a race on the Saturday before basketting?? Heard of a pigeon that won 4th open Rennes 6 days after Winning its fed Open race from around 380miles
  8. Aye thats the one Can imagine that stuff will have walked for sure
  9. There was some excellant heavy duty mesh lying at the side of the road when they were fixing the fence at the Livingston motorway turn off last month. I was very tempted to go on a midnight mission
  10. Northwest fed at Eastbourne with the national-just shy of 400miles to me
  11. will see what the next couple of days bring and what the forecast is like but could be up to 20 VERY EXCITED
  12. Yeh the masses seem to now prefer inland racing and rightfully so would like recognition on a national level.Incidentally two of fliers I consider the best inland racers in Scotland did not feature on last weeks national result Unsure if they sent or not
  13. The interest of the majority of fanciers has really changed in the last 20 or so years. There was a time in Scotland when channel racing was the be all and end all.Not so much now unfortunately So obviously the SNFC have felt the need to cater for this with these inland Nationals.Which are not only to the detrement of their later channel events, the original soul purpose for the formation of the club, but they are also having a huge hit on federation birdages. These federations and combines need the birdage and money a lot more than the SNFC does. After all club racing is the bread and butter. There is no denying some absolutely terrific performances were put up last weekend but regardless of this I feel these races are really just money spinners that take from organisations a lot worst off financially than the SNFC.I think most people deep down would agree that the races really don't carry the same prestige and exceitment of the channel races either. In my opinion the SNFC should focus on channel racing leaving inland racing to federations, combines and amals.Feel there would be a lot more entries for the channel races this way and the feds wouldn't be going down the road with empty transporters for their last three or four races.Everyone would benefit. I'd also like to see a change in the national's fee paying policy and perhaps look into the best way to organise a pay per race kinna system. This way you only pay for the races you go to which again I feel would help with their birdages in the channel races.
  14. Cheers Fingers crossed for a good one next week from Eastbourne All the best

  20. They are certainly for the most part beautiful pigeons.Great lookers and lovely handlers. Had a lot of fun with the Honeysuckle Janssens when I was younger
  21. Recieved a phonecall this evening from a non fancier in Bothwell. A pigeon of mine turned up in his back garden on Saturday night. It was one of my yealrings I had at Leicester that day-gay pied cock with the bull eye .He and his wife managed to catch it last night. I went through tonight to pick it up.The bird is knackered, there are talon marks and its back been stripped a wee bit.It made a good effort to get itself home the brave wee thing The woman viewed it as a wee pet the last couple of days, shes been putting bread and seeds out for it til they caught it last night The guy used to race pigeons as a teenager so they took a keen interest when I was talking to them about the racing this year. The guy was shocked when I told him of how birds of prey are now ruining the sport as it wasn't much of an issue when he kept them. The womans asked me to stay in touch to keep her informed of the birds progress . It was a nice gesture for them to make the effort to get the bird home and I'm glad to get him back He looks as if his racing days maybe over Thats me up to 27/34 from Leicester now
  22. Whats the plan for your Ypres Section Winner John??
