  1. Grimby area. I'm thinking about moving there as I have family around the area. Whats it like in the area for pigeon racing? Is it easy to get in the clubs and what is the council like regarding pigeon racing?
  2. if I lived nearer I'd be interested.

  4. What is best coming up to a distance race..more protein [beans or peas], or carbs [maize]. We always used to think it was giving them more beans…but what’s the modern view on this?
  5. North Thames NR Combine Berwick Lib 11:30 North East wind Flying between approx 275 - 320 in combine
  6. Sometimes you can try putting a couple yearling rank cocks, and they start cooing. That gets the young cocks going, and excites the young hens. Yearling in their old youngbird section can do the trick.
  7. Thanks mate..but the pigeons were entered ok. emailed mark Gilbert and got this fix..so if anyone on else has thgis problem. '...BIOS 4.A4 indicates that the clocks in question are SPEEDYLITE clocks. Start Main indicates that the clocks have lost their software. To rectify this simply give the clocks the software again. Go to Master menu 12 (Updating) and select option 4 for the SPEEDYLITE. NB : the clocks had probably and incorrectly been given Speedy software (line 3) instead...'
  8. Anyone know about error messages on speedy clocks? Tried to get print outs at the club yesterday and getting 'BIOS 4.A4' and below that getting 'Start main() 4 A4' I know from programming that 'main' in the entrance point to programs. It only happened to two clocks where the members put in a few rings before going up the club. All we are getting now is these error messages when plugging in. The master timer seemed to go through the process of updating the clocks. Anyone have any idea how to clear these errors, please??
  9. Noel Higginson, Richards Pride was winner of 2nd Open Old Bird Derby Dinard in 1992
  10. Is there any chance of putting up a list of who won what lots please? thanks
  11. The Corketts Dark cheqs are top quality Wildermeersch from Waters & Broadhurst, they also have Van Reets direct.
  12. North Thames North Road Combine up at Berwick 8:15 west wind.
  13. I've used cheap layers pellets [with no antibiotics] for bringing up youngsters, at a rate of about 50% [or more] pellets and corn. They are good for birds that are down after a hard race, to bring them back up again quickly because of the high protein and vitamins etc. Also for young bird sickness, as the birds dont puke them up and they dry up wet droppings.
  14. I know the Corketts, have raced in the same club as them. They can be unbeatable and are amongst the best flyers in Britain. They only used to clock 3 birds in every week in each of the two clubs they raced in, and regularly took the first 3 in both clubs, and win fed and combines, and it ours was a very strong club with top flyers. Not me I must add ;D Not forgetting their national results. See recent midlands national result.
  15. Well done to them. Hopefully will be used to promote the sport in the national press..although I doubt it will.
  16. Not surprised with this wind
  17. I tend to just leave them now unless the crop is damaged, they normally just heal up on their own. Sometimes I just leave them in the loft if no bones are broken.
  18. Thames Valley liberated 7:45 this morning [sunday] from Newark, in a strong south west wind. Winner in the club did the 90 miles [Luton] in 2hrs 5mins [1186], in gale force head wind, and returns were very good. So it was reasonably fast which surprised everyone
  19. Thames Valley held over at Newark. Prediction for tomorrow, light showers and some sunshine, so looks better then today. Better weather at Leicester though, so who knows?? :-/

  21. Dunstable, nr Luton at 9:25. Been raining, but very fine ran now. Total white cloud cover. Bit chilly, need a jumper on :-/
  22. Anyone used Chinese herbs? are they any good and do they work as well as proper medicines? Seen them advertised for years, and there is some being advertised now, naming some top flyers that are said to use it. But I'm just wondering what people on here think and are they worth the money? thanks
  23. Thames Valley lib 2:30 from Newark [80 miles north of me], in a northerly wind.
