  1. We have many top doomen in our fed Who could argue against john hodgson ,seven national wins and all from the channel, And john only has time to work the birds when time permits just think what he could achieve if full time dooman , One of the great all rounders has to be my good friend jimmy dal from the fechan jimmy wins in the club and fed from the first to last race with only a handful of birds and i mean handful His national record is fantastic from all racepoints ,he once bred and raced tranquillity boy that was one of the best birds in scotland at the time,He now races hoddam dynamo which has a first and third open national to its credit from the channel plus other top national positions also numerous club and fed tickets ,No of anyone with a bird of this standing cos i don't . Top Top DOOMAN .
  2. Same old story 0 points strikers tonight excellent Goalkeeper World class Defence or lack of it a joke As for manager if he thinks we are going to spend our hard earned cash to follow a team with no strikers he can go F--- Himself .

  5. Well said we should be fully backing the convoyers they are the men who no what is required .
  6. Lots of good birds lost now Gareth,we are only playing the percentage game look how many birds have went down going for gold award or an average cup they don't suddenly become bad doos ,just run out of luck ,as for transporter prob better just hiring good ones then no upkeep the one that picked our birds up for inland race had lot to be desired regarding width of passageway to drinkers ,would have been better of taking our own .
  7. Would agree very handy to have lights ,i am like yourself of to work and back home in dark come winter, purchased mine from the birdroom at Blackpool show few years back digital timer multi settings or just simple of on switch 30 seconds for lights to be fully on ,thirty minutes to fade down gradually ,grudged the money at the time but just missed a night at NELLIE DEANS and that was it paid for
  8. Hi Gareth I made removable trays for nest boxes and fitted petron grills above ,thought it was ok to start with easy cleaning ,but took a dislike to it as i thought it harbored to much dust same applies with floor grills ,to me better using scraper as often as possible trays and grills just for lazy people, after all we wouldn't like a tray under our bed omo
  9. Was given a pigeon a few years back as a gift ,had a jacket on ,put it in garden shed for few days until its nominated flight could not beleive it when it was sitting at loft door next day wanting in ,the wonders of nature .
  10. Thanks Gareth Thats the beauty of breeding from very old pigeons
  11. Hello Gareth , Best distance family i had by a mile were bred from blue cock from mc ivor brothers carnwath Tinto Goldmine paired to cheq hen that was fourteenth open nantes ,down from late jim souter Brydekirk bloodlines EVERYONE that was sent to a five hundred mile race bred from this pair scored ,got the diplomas as proof ,one hen scored three times on day of liberation from rennes flying 15 , 16 ,16 HALF Hours on wing into nw wind each time and beating over 7500 birds each time her best performance was 7th section 30th open when flying 16 half hours ,she bred a youngster when she was ten years old that topped the fed ,in turn she bred a blue wf cock when she was ten years old ,he is now fifteen and has just produced a youngster that is his double ,these birds had feathered feet perhaps gits ? a wonderful family do you no of anyone that may still have the origanal mc ivor bloodlines JUST GOOD HONEST OLD SCOTTISH DOOS .
  12. Have no worries jumping my own birds from stainmore 76 mls to appleton 142 mls ,have jumped young birds from 76 miles with the fed to 180 miles with anglo scottish and got eighty to ninety percent home , distance no problem to fit healthy birds its where they are let of , thats the danger . All the best for 2011 .
  13. Lanarkshire could start at Lockerbie or Longtown ,then have a Appleby or Stainmore then jump to Appleton which would be a jump of nearly seventy miles ,my first race from Appleby Shap OR Stainmore back to Moffat is 70 Miles so no Probs there
  14. No way got friends along the solway cost ,Dalbeattie ,Stranraer we think things are bad ,out that way it is completely out of control more raptors than crows we would get massacred .
  15. Correct in what you have said we are all changing routes ,race points etc only because of being murdered by B O P
  16. Hi stevie Spot on once we are clear of hills returns are good ,Sedburgh disaster point Leyland not much better ,after that fine ps no forgot about the info you are after .
  17. Good point mate o mine had young cock that flew well on darkness done nothing as yearling from two onwards is racing machine eight firsts plus second open national ,I myself have lost club and fed winners as yearlings ,natural youngsters do seem steadier as yearlings. as for ybs never had it until last year with birds that were brought in ,same again this year am convinced the virus lies dormant in loft ,going to strip out inside and creosote all surfaces don't want this every year .
  18. Hello Stevie I no someone who has the best built a loft for him
  19. Good post, one of my most consistant yearlings and this years young bird were both bred from same pair ,dams side just happens to have double gold award winner in its breeding , cream comes to the top .
  20. I have my ets pads left in the loft ,have been since our club got lottery grant years ago got 6mm ply top screwed over to keep clean also all sealed in position and secretary has copy of all seal numbers ,thats the rules otherwise they could be moved onto landing board on race day and that would be cheating ,no problems in our club as it is spread over a fifteen mile plus radius ,one of our members still uses t3 and wins more than his share ,see birds got to be with leaders .
  21. Regarding young bird national it will certainly do the youngsters no harm from the experience gained against big bird age but at what cost to the south and west sections as looking at the result there was two and a half hours between first and last section position that's fourteen out of one hundred and forty ,the section winner being 47 miles behind the winner and the fourteenth being 96 miles behind ,our fed was at Stafford the previous week which is only 40 miles short of Leicester and the birds made easy work of it ,they were all up for the job in hand but found themselves on the wrong side of the country then had to work into a head wind thus the difference in times ,i have been fortunate enough in recent years to have finished second and fourth section but now question sending what could turn out to be good yearlings , Very well done to all the Winners ,
  22. Many thanks got controlled lights so no problem will give it a go all the best mate should be over for dublin show owe you a guinness
