Do You Paint The Inside Of Your Loft
yeboah replied to demolition man's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
First loft i had when i started as a boy in wamphray in 1972 was built from railway sleepers cut into 3/4 inch planks produced winners every year nothing could live in there that could harm the birds great smell from the creosote better still it only cost a fiver and that was for cutting the sleepers -

Advise Please On Ventilation
yeboah replied to Bryngwynt Lofts's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Tip,Having built numerous lofts for top fanciers ,lets say standard sloping roof 66inch at back 78 inch at front .3x2 roof timbers min of at least 12 inch overhang both front and back covered on underside with mesh all that is required nothing else of any importance. Van-lint had vents fitted to front of his first class loft but they were never open Wonder why Good Luck -
Computer Programmes For Lofts
yeboah replied to Walter swanston's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
Hi Walter, just like yourself i start of at beginning of breeding season using computer , then when the season is underway i have no time to sit at a computer ,running a full time business and trying to find time for the birds not enough hours in the day, simplest method is two note down on the inside of the nest boxes parents numbers then mark down number of youngsters as you ring them ,as they grow any that fall out of the box simply put them back to corresponding number at end of season copy into loft book or computer Must be this moffat air -
I have a full length corridor with four bay windows the youngsters get to rest in the sun and fresh air during the day when they come of the darkness ,they are also feed at this level which is approx chest level (well mine) they become very tame but should never be caught and handled as this is there space ,i have a sliding corridor door with a flap that the training basket sits against ,i am then able to put my arm around the youngsters and cox them onto the floor and into the basket ,if i wished to handle a youngster for some reason this would be done when they were perched the others never move i think with not being overhandled jmo .

Hello Alec If you have a race from the coast any chance some of us could go as trainers We could pay our way . perhahps you could use the entry as a nominated bird Thanks Mick

Having read your comments gentlemen on last nights vote ,which seems to have been close Firstly good luck to you all for 2011 Our own federation now has to decide which route to race for 2011 ,at present i think 50 - 50 It is a very sad sign of the times when we the pigeon fancier that put so much into the British economy are being dictated as to where we race our birds beloved birds from .because of a out of control breeding programme by B O P lovers . Having spoken to one recently and asked his views as to when they would be content with b o p numbers his reply was there could never be enough Falcons . Our only hope of saving this great sport of ours is for every organisation throughout the U K to act as one ,employing a top legal team to overrule the full protection order that exists at present . All charity fundraising etc would have to stop for the foreseeable future if we are going to reverse the present climate .Time to look after ourselves or there breeding programme over the next five years will kill of our sport in many areas with the rest to follow . SAD SAD TIMES

Many of you will no of the famous poet Rabbie Burns In the Black Bull in Moffat he wrote on a window pain Ask why god made the gem so small And why so huge the granite Because god meant mankind should set the greater value on it Now what you probably dont no he died in the village i was born south of moffat --Wamphray My uncle was the barman and he told me that rabbie was a regular He came in one night and said where is everyone tonight shan o rabie this is a very special night in Wamphray this is oo oo night Rabbie said oo oo night what is oo oo night Shan said well on oo oo night all the lassies come in that are not married, have a few whiskys and go up to the hills and hide in a cave Then all the lads come in that are not married have a few beers, then go up to the caves and go oo oo if they here a oo oo in they go. Rabbie said could i have a go, shan said well your no really a local, but seeing your getting a bit of a name for youself ok So he points rabbie in the right direction and away he goes Gets to the first cave and goes oo oo ----- nothing next cave oo oo ------ nothing next cave oo oo ---- nothing He thinks maybe shan is taking the p*ss ,or they cannae here me Next cave he shouts louder 0000 0000 ---- nothing Next cave 0000 0000 and he here's a 0000 0000 So he ran in ----------- GOT KILLED BY A TRAIN
