Or less than a full one eh!

Well actually I agree with the 'Immediate' royal family. I believe the Queen has done well for an ole fossil regards the immense changes in the past 50 years. Like Charles as he actually pays Income Tax on his profits etc. Now the hangers on... get shot of them, they are all well and good but should be completely self supporting. No hand outs for Princess Micheal / Duke this taht and the other. But as regards the actual institute of the the 'Royal' Family, they are our biggest asset in regards money making. The 'Sight See 'ers alone add billins to our coffers, so that has to be a good thing. And no other royal family in the world has the carrisma, and pom / ceromy that ours do. So yes, they are a big money earner for us.

Mind, best not open unless you know the person(s). Had a few rough viruses, and NO one I know has appreciated being sent one. If I sent to someone first time the Message would bear my name and a clue as to what.... Often we don't know whether it's a spoof or not till a day or so later... but it is sent on, posted in good faith. Better safe than sorry. I'd hate for many to go down with a virus that I could have prevented.

Tight gits... £5 50p ;D ;D Saw that in the states Unikon etc. are selling new complete at £335 or US$ 495 : 337 was a time when we were offered great deals of enticement to start the charge... now, well no matter they are here and coming stronger every minute.

Its slightly off the subject - but still relevant - as it was in the news the other week a father got his daughter(s) pregnant on 17 occasions this resulted in 10 non-viable (miscarriage or dying shortly after birth) and 7 that were viable - but gave no indication of any health problems that the children may be suffering from Exactly, and why I never even dream of closer than second cousin. Just look at the monstrousities of the royal family... and the ones in the Freak Shows' in circuses. Many were bonkers and dim witted, with cousins. You can't buck nature. And 'Line Breeding' is completely different than Inbreeding. Look how the shape of the poor alsation show dog with tapered away *expletive removed*.

Flew the Faroes first year i started ... on own 1984. Now that was a real hard and tough race, with few recorded fast times. Norway we've flown. My dream would be Moscow.... Is1037 miles to me from Rome. But wasn't keeping at the time in the early 90's. Bilco will have some facts of course... says he'd never do, or set up a 1000 miler again I believe. Think that was on here. So is some in the archives eh!
-
i read, Sam Hall, I believe where the British bird hold the record still for the fastest 1000 miles odd.

Many feather merchants do fly and sell because to sell if you're racing you must be winning. Remember a great name that started back up and continued to win well, set the place ablaze in fact. Then when he had to move he stopped racing because as he said 'Even novices would beat my new location... and you must be winning if racing to sell'. He'l tell you that himself. He'll also tell you the birds that actually made he name in the first place were not the ones he bought in big time but were leon boers. Further he says 'Why I started back, to prove these new birds were the real deal.... and they were'! A very honest feather merchant I guess.

Yes been a few 1000 milers, indeed the turn of the last centuary Jackson was flying Yearlings over the 1000 miles. Then Bilco organised the Rome race that was over a 1000 miles to most. But in the states there is a 1000 mile club. And I I was involved in setting up the 'Pickle lake' in Canada where some do the 1000 miles. Indeed on Canada Day we were, and some are still hopefully doing Canada distance day on that day. This did get a lot of Media Cover. But we must be looking at Asia where some have the terrain etc. China, like I say, does do trialers as to races. But then they do do I believe races of over a 1000 miles. Golly had it all once at my finger tips... then two P.c. crashes, bad with doing saving discs, and lost discs...

Why are the continentals way out in front of UK
Roland replied to Michael J Burden's topic in Notice Board
To a certain extent that is it. I must also take into account he 'Earths Curve' WHEN planning liberation sites I believe. Lattitude /& Longtuted aren't 'Straight Lines' Also the Wind plays a fair part in determining the velocity of the pigeons, especially in different locations. Sure we can't harness the wind, obvious that! But we can adjudge the sails a mite. This especially so for the sections! Of course, it goes with out saying, certain birds in certain area's will dominate certain races on certain days according to the wind. No one in real terms have a problem with that ... exept the 'Leaders' defending the feathered nests with crap scenario's about anything that might mis lead a few - But with fairer sections, more Big concern involvements, and certainly all part of most weeks a National, the chances are enhanced that then, sometimes, others in other locations, once or twice a season say, get a chance of the 'Big One' but every week merit and deserved notiority will abond most weeks! thsi is what most want and strive for. -

Micheal ........ So I would say the logical thing for us North of the CSCFC boundary we need to surely amalgamate races, include the southern flyers. Get each club to have local prizes, then fed prizes then National prizes etc so everyone has something to show for their efforts. The members who are within the boundaries of the CSCFC are best placed to race almost on a level playing field with those competing from the continent. Isn't that part of what I am been arking on about for 10 years. Makes sense, make it cost effective, and most importantly 'Meriteous' to participate. But the 'Location / Self first' brigade' shut the door pronto on it' Which makes one begger why they are voted in each time... Answer, good talkers and leaders, and the fancy's apathy. -
I have the one where the pigeon is flying over the seas... is brill as I and many others have told him. Unfortunately I've tried to paste on here to no avail... like many more.

Yep, if I'd have Shergar, he'd probably lived a ripe old age giving kids a ride on the sea front.... doubt I'd even had got him to win a race lol -

Will be a day, as I've often said, sooner that later hopefully, when after the credit crunch is gone, that Corporatives will be a 'Mark' for the one loft races, and will indeed incorporate old birds too. the beaty also will be that clubs / Feds etc. will be satalites for them. Corporates picking up the tabs, Grass rootes sorting and getting cheaper and better racing. Yes run in conjunction, but seperately and also within Feds Nationals whatever. -
Thing is, if a back garden loft as opposed to one at the allottments, or a while away. Me, if I was phoned at 8 : 30 for a 10 O'clock pick up, I'd be fine as long as theose receiving knew what time they could expect them. Thought that the great thing about an ealier phone call was so you didn't have them in the basket all day needlessly. I've learnt this.... Untill I know the collection time, any bird regards me will be in the loft and not hanging about in a box.

;DChina with out doubt. They are also able to have Trilers where this is no water to cross over, but often rugged terrain. 3000 miles has been banted about, but don't know i any have done it etc. Albetross have done the 3000 miles, and one was just over 6 days I believe, Many don't realise that Albetrosses home too like pigeons... but need big lofts, and plenty of fish... golly what a stink to scrap out eh!

Is one that will be in it's 36th year next year I believe... Read it only a couple of months ago... Can't think where, possibly Racing Digest.

Don't believe that the one loft race has the best birds, certainly not as yet. Indeed often they are the 'Untried' birds. Agreed some do sent their best to what is in reality a 'Lottery'. hate to put a figure on it, but a very high % are not even bred by the Fancier / syndicate that enters them. Then a lot of reserves get put in. Further one can buy a bird to be entered, and some have done well vis this method. Likewise, just looking at the Belgium birds over the last - say 5 years in the Sun City races, and one see's that they are fair to middling at best. -

Well why does one advocate Noon Libs’. Must be one hell of an off putting to any genuine Distance race guy, especially those that do, and have created a family to compete on hard days, and the distance. Surely it’s a farce and a smack in the face for them! Yes of course it is said that it is so no bird’s can or will cross the channel! This is what the birds actually need to do, cross the channel etc. and HAVE every help and chance of being it’s loft, home by night fall. The more truthful side is simply a good middle distance bid can be held up with the true distance bird and hop over the water to time in. This purely to lessen any chance that a good distance may have had of achieving a good result! Next day is different conditions. Muscles tired and cold need sorting. And they have 150 to 300 miles or more than the South coast birds, and then the east coasters. A travesty engineered purely for middle distance getting an unfair advantage. Another reason, surely, why the nationals, and internationals are not very well attended.
