  1. your right if tossed or raked over this would improve the bedding and stop it from smelling
  2. nope no damp in my loft but i have a kean sense of smell ammonia is present when there faecal matter , when ammonia is present with heat causes gases these gases if not properly ventilated can cause problems the floor white eliminates these smells and drys the dropping more readily
  3. i knock out the lumps , but once it starts smelling of ammonia i sprinkle loft white on to remove smell then if smells again its out it depends on number of birds can last up to 3 months and well worth it just lay after a few weeks sprinkle on some Stalosan f then when smells add some loft white
  4. nice set up and lovely garden
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangosteen
  6. is there a closing time for this then please fletch ? yup lovely bird
  7. im not one for the one loft races not my cup of tea
  8. i use deep litter much easier to maintain , i started using it when i went on holliday i prefered the scraper and was looking to remove it when i got back but i was supprise how healthy the birds were and how happy they were , so i have it in every loft now Stalosan f is a great product can sprinkle this on top
  9. in the N.E.H.U the 3 or 4 letters are from an area , but GB rings are usualy done for either town or club name , and others such as x , v or z for national clubs or studs
  10. i used to find if the frost got the clay bowls they smash so beware if in water the ice expands then they get air line fractures then break when you pick them up
  11. lino would be covered by the grills so birds wouldn't be able to get at it to destroy it , yup lime is great for yb sickness , never heard of Chinese chalk before tho what is it exactly ?
  12. could be anywhere you can check all ring numbers to the original club by going to the R.P.R.A site on member support all ring lists up to 2004 to 2008: http://www.rpra.org/MemberSupport/RingList/tabid/85/Default.aspx
  13. That depends on what the bowls made of, but no porus surface is inpenitrable by germs thats why i prefer plastic to claybowls , but if made of wood the varnish will protect and stop woodworm penitrating and the bowl from rotting when ever wet through droppings or cleaning
  14. i have decided to line the nest box floors with lino as i think this will serve it's purpose better than the newspaper just scrape and wipe job done
  15. I have just cleaned out all my nesting bowls no doubt alot of you will be doing the same prior to pairing , i have noticed even after soaking for 24hrs the bowls still seem pitted with calcium deposits obviously from the urine even after scrubbing , i soaked mine in Harpic power toilet cleaner and this helped remove the deposits just thought i'd post this to help others get there bowls as clean as i have , im very happy with the results
  16. the moderators do there jobs well and if posts are moved to the correct boards and this upsets the poster then they themselves should look at where they post in the first instance , theres usualy a link left anyway
  17. I guess some people have to rely on the quantity to get the quality and the only way they can do it is buy sending more pigeons , have seen it myself on allotments a good flyer had some realy top birds but still needed numbers i would of loved to gone in and got rid of the ones that were no good , as i believe he would of done even better when his numbers were down and the quality was back up.
  18. Yes there are times when the passion within us gets heated , and we do have to rember that although we only see a font , there is a person behind it , if we all agreed with each other i think the site would be a bit boring , at times i have agreed to disagree and left it at that it's entirely up to the reader to choose his / her course of action , i have spoken to many of the members on this forum and i know of some peoples problems and issues , and some know mine , a few kind words on someones screen via forum or pm does and can make a difference to some , and im more than happy to do so as i have for a few people . This is a great site lets keep it this way . :)
  19. i have had most of my pigeons through Louella , yes theres alot that i wouldnt give room but if you know what your looking for and a good judge of pigeon then there as good a breeding loft and keeper of strains as most , the only draw back is there not a flying loft so the ones that should of been weeded out still get bred from , i bought 4 birds through Louella this year by sight alone one is outstanding and i expect it to be a great breeder one has a stlightly bent keel and other 2 are fine one with a frilled wing never had any that did any good but i shall see , would i go back for more ? at there prices you can afford to get a duffer every now and again . But on the whole i like there birds and there at a working mans price so yes id go back no hesitation, if you can get the birds / lines you want from a flying loft thats doing well even better. But i must agree i'd only buy for a cross not to form a family as i had done previously unless it was from a newer family.
  20. bianco also known as loft white , available through columbine as bianco and in 25 kg sack by natural , i would be addressing the primary problem 1st rather than the secondary problem , give your birds som barely it will stop the droppings been so wet
  21. awe right lol but as soon as you get software on you'l be away lol , i was refering to the nut problem lol

  25. i think its a good idea however i feel them kind of decisions should be left for Richard to decide and impliment and it's the time issue involved in Richard and Grizzle hen enabling this but would this stop all the postings of the feather merchants , heres a better idea all birds sold on site must have an accompanying photography
