diagree with u a lot i spent a good few bob on two familles of birds before i had the family that i have now i put a major amount of work into both of them these were well known respeced sprint based birds yes i won a few races but noting like im doing now and i went staight too the source for them birds they were good birds but wouldent have a hope of holding into what i have now same loft same feed the lot so the birds is what counts no mater what the distance ok they have to be done right yes but i reckon im even putting less work in now to get better results just what i have found u see im living 30 mile out of the way to be in the right positon have been in the top 5 in fed when no one in my area in top 50

sometimes though antibiotics can be given for secondary infections that the origanall problem brings on and the orignall problem the bird has to fight and we can only help it

i only breed 30 to 40 and very little losses i did breed more i find at the end of the year u will have the same amount left any way i only have a few stock birds so it helps and i compete ok with this amount although i will say i really dont go out to win young bird races as i love racing old cocks all i can say is if u usually rear 60 young ones just try rearing 40 and id be willing to bet ure percentages of losses will be lower and your young will be healthier one piece of advice keep as little stock birds as possible ask yourself if a hen OR cock if there are no young left after 2 years with a differnt bird are they going to improve the third year this is the way i see it

its a bit off the point but how many times do u breed off parents that there young are lost from

if the bird is not worth the price of amtrax what the point of breeding it feeding it rearing it seems mad to me my beilf is theses pll dont carre much about there birds probally think if they work hard 2 weeks before season they will get results probally turn up to the club knowing all to well there birds are sick and dont even havre respect for other fanicers that take care of there birds they breed to many to counter act there loses which makes things worse and its just a cyle that gets worse and worse

might be a idea to let them breed up not to sure on the best way just a tought never tried to break a bird before so dont know if it works wait till there on eggs couldent see why it wont work could be wrong

can we set up a thread for new starters giving them sum tips on how to start and things to watch out for and just some general tips really noting to hard to understand cause i can see a new starter or maybe some one think of getting pigeons coming on here and see us talking about medicines diseases and all sorts could blow there mind a bit and scare them off and this thread be edited by some one or a few pll and locked so it doesnt get too confessing and when a new starter comes on we can direct them to the thread i think it would be a good idea

i think the problem was with the black ones and not the brown ones as far as i know could be wrong

vic i know this baseilly was saying it should happen more often as in i know parts where there are transoporters are going to the same race point and there half full in two feds and they raise the membership for these members in the two feds last year when it gets to the old bird season 2 lorries going up the road two the same race point is mad i dont race in any of these feds but i have seen it .

shouldent feds join to geather and split the fees on these long races anyway i see transporters going up the road half full and then even u could win your own fed and a option of a combine with the price of fuel i think this is the only way to go
