good point shadow but our fed has a new type drinking system where its feed into the individual drinker and as well with droppings in hampers birds getting sick in hampers and other birds eating the the corn when they get sick would help there too its good to hear all these points only reason i bring this up lads have heard of a fancier sending birds in our club last year that had a really bad disease we only found out this later it worried me as i would never do this and id sleep a bit more if i new his birds were in a different hamper at least would limit the changes of other birds picking up something i know if every fancier was honest they would be left at home but as we know there not all i was thinking of was a way to limit the changes of cross contamination

that hard to find these days
-
i was thinking that too but most diseases are spread are through through drinking water and i was thinking that a member bought or rented there hamper at start of year so whether they had 5 or 15 birds its there hamper and i was thinking if two members wanted to share the costs of one hamper that could be done too it would be still better than possibly have 10 different members birds in the one hamper i admit too not thinking through too much but i think it could work
-
id imagine the rspb site the might be some where there but i fuond the once or twice i was there i felt the urge to get sick lol
-
well rose if it like like some of the statements that have come out of the rspb in the last few years should be a good laugh

just a quick question with birds picking up other ailments when in hampers on race day wouldn't it be better if every member had there own hamper so only your birds are in your hamper know it probably be harder to work on long distance racing or would there be a down side to this just something ive been think about for the last few days just want to think what other members opinions are on this

is there anyone racing these or any info tried pipa but not too sure of spelling not like here lads not to get a bag full of answers
-
yes its a sign of good condition also the feathers should look like there painted on i notice when a cock hits real top form he can nearly chance colour the black on the wings becomes a real pitch black and if its a blue its easier to see as the blue will become real bright with powder falling off the wings

they will need to get there confidence back id go back to the same point a few times more id leave them for 4 or 5 days in loft not even leaving them out its a long haul when this happens put u back a week or more but could be worth it whats the biggest worry is this bird now living around your loft i hope not but if it is its a bigger problem than the one u have u should know your self when the birds start to quieten down in the loft and become there old selves im just going to throw another point in there do ppl think that some families of birds react better to this sort of stress than others

i just love your posts so much thought goes into them its amazing what u can come up when u sit down and think about i don't mind pll coming on here when they have put some thought into there posts even when u disagree with them or when they make u think about something they wrote but by god Joe u have me thinking for hours with comments like these thank you
-
dont take me up wromg when i meen changes not for the sake of chances but allways do something that u think will improve your system feed birds things like that u should allways be looking to improve as around me if u dont impove ure not standing still ure actually going backwards just keep in mind to try and make 1 change every year at least what i try to do its a bit of hard work and u need the space i split my team in two and try 2 different feeding systems and see what the results are just things like that even though my ventalation was working really good 2 years ago i could see this with a ciggie in the loft or a smoke bomb i still changed it last year and it was even better i know this could have worked out worse and that has happened to me too but at least im not sitting down at night wondering will that work . just some toughts

albear would agree with all u say apart from basket training i do belive they need to know what a basket is before there first toss and for drinking just try putting drinkers on the birds in the club when the marking is finished and ul see them drink we done it this year and i couldn't belive how much the birds drank even though they were only in the baskets for a short while my own beliefs for loses are all of the above birds not good enough feed training and so on u see top fanicers they never seem to lose to many alright they might have 1 bad year but its rare the top fanicers leave not tin uncovered when it comes to all these points there attention to detail and there work ethic is amazing no stone is left uncovered
-
so that that mean u can win sprint races with bad birds cant belive that
-
thats a hard one to answer on average id say its the birds are not suited to the distance or just not good enough really to answer this one u would have to see the all the circumstances of the fl yer like i was out of the sport for a few year and when i came back i was asked by a few fanicers what was i doing wrong i am so far behind but what i found was the sport has moved on and they were doing the same thing they were doing years ago buy introduce new birds too willing to try new things what i am trying to say is always try new things if u are doing the same thing as last year u are standing still weather that be changing re system a little trying a new pair in your stock loft changing your loft to make the air flow better trying a new feed really its a over all thing it really is a hard one to answer
-
well he did ask what pll think and for there advice that all we can do here we all have our different methods whos to say who is right u can pick up any video or book by top fanicers and all there methdods will be different that that why i said its down to understanding the pigeons that u own and what they can achive most famillys of pigeons need that extra year or two to mature im sure most distance ladies or men would agree on that one
-
yeah mate probally the best way to go only advice i can give u is take ure time and if ure racing widowhood take it easy on the cocks as youngers and race the sh** out of the hens this is what i do and i only keep in the stock loft that what pigeons are left in the youngbird loft and results of my old cocks u can take out too much out of birdswhen they are youngers i only give birds that i know will have a change to perform as old birds 3 to 5 races ull know this as they will be brothers half brothers and so on in your old bird loft racing hoe this helps a little
