VAGIN Posted June 28, 2018 Report Posted June 28, 2018 With unusual temps just now most of my birds flying around the loft on landing are gagging .Does that not put our birds that are enterd in the one/loft/races at a disavantage in countries that has high temts all the time . ( Just an after thought )
Kyleakin Lofts Posted June 28, 2018 Report Posted June 28, 2018 I would think they would acclimatise fairly quickly. The heat would be a problem for all birds whether from that country or not.
Blue Chequer Pied Posted June 28, 2018 Report Posted June 28, 2018 Just like it would put you at an advantage if it is cold and wet.... don’t think it would make much difference tbh.
Novice Posted June 29, 2018 Report Posted June 29, 2018 In theory pigeons which have Buff type feathering as opposed to Yellow type feathering would be better suited to a hot climate as Buff is better ventilated and allows the pigeon to cool down. The opposite would be the case in a wet climate as Buff feathering is less waterproof.Buff and Yellow are often referred to as sacking and silk.
