THE FIFER Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 The RPRA are looking for a Development Officer, as racing pigeons are on the way down, membership in the 1989's was around 60,000, now its only 21,000 a loss of 60% during the last 30yrs, and a large number of membership are above retirement age,and not a lot of new members joining the sport, so membership could fall at a larger rate, the job of the Development Officer is part time and will be to get the awareness of the sport out to the public ,this is for a trial period, but if successful could be extended,
GRAHAM MITCHELL Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 As long as we have the bop problem I don't think a development officer will make any difference to the dwindling membership in the whole of the UK.Hope I'm wrong thou.
showman Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Wonder what the total budget will be for this position and costs ?
Mattydoos79 Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I think it’s a good idea as there’s a chance to get new people to be aware of this hobby, one suggestion is the social media and Internet is one way to step forward and I would like to do this but I’m in Scotland so RPRA is no use. I’m a young guy and think that technology in this century is one way to grab new members.
