ozzytone Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 On Saturday we held a 5 bird special race from The Twins in South Australia 389 miles away, there was a total of 280 birds, the first bird completed the race in 4 hours and 3 minutes at an average speed of 95.5 miles per hour, there was another dozen which came in very close. How does that compare with the flying speeds in Europe. I hasten to add that for a lot of the way there was a very strong wind blowing in in the direction of home. In the open race of 2000 birds they produced speeds of about 92 mph and many birds ( mine included) were blown past Adelaide and returned a few hours later taking about 7 hours to complete the race. This really was a blow home. Cheers Oz
