Was cleaning out this morning we have we section where there are 8 pair in it.these birds have not been out for about two month but have access to a cage on the landing board.a pair had two youngsters which were left in the section.noticed this morning.one of the young birds has no tail at all.as I said never been out for two months.how did that happen.

Could be feather mite eating the feathers away at the roots. If u examine it closely and that is the prob you should be able to see it. No sure of Best cure but I would start with a dip in chlorcarb

Intersting, i was speaking to a m8 down south today and he told me about a cock he had which always had tail feathers missing since it was a yb.

 

The pigeon is now a 3yo and has scored out to Nfc Tarbes. Deffo a strange one me thinks! :unsure:

my pal had a doo thats scored twice from reims at 7 year old and 8 year old, wasnt raced at 6 year old because its end tail flight was hanging veery low, moulted out again the same next year so he put it back on the road,5th section reims last year, 7th open this year...

Yup can happen Andrew, wouldnt worry too much about a low tail feather or droopy tail feathers.

 

One of my best stock hens has this and she's bred winners in club fed and National out to 600 ml for me and other fanciers.

 

I'm sure Delboy on here once stated a similar thing. ;)

The bird in my avatar had a stinker of a drooped tail feather,she won the west sect 5th open gold cup and was a racing machine.She is also responsible for over 70 SNFC Diplomas. I now like drooped tails lol
