Now the weather has turned warmer I have been pestered by very small flies, my loft is clean and I have to fly spray the sections through out the day. Can any one give me advice on how to get rid of them.

If its small flys you have check out and about for water filled pots or buckets in you garden or next door these are fruit flys and they hatch in stagnant water empty out any you come across

I was getting loads in the loft a few weeks back.Hung up some pine cones about the place and sprayed some stuff with eucalyptus oil in it onto the walls, roof etc. apparently they don't like the stuff and sure enough they did clear out quickly.

thank you, not sure what the pine cones do but I will try it and the oil. Do you get the oil from the chemists and did you mix it with water or spray neat, does it effect the birds when in the loft.

Next door has a small pond, so they might be coming from there, not sure what to do about this although up to know we get on quite well, many thanks.

Think it's the appearance of the pine cones they don't like more than a scent or that-resembles their predator's nests.

You could get it from the chemist and dilute it or there are some loft sprays that have it in them. The stock nutrition Bio Air is good. I used to use it when I first started with the birds but hadn't seen it around for a while, managed to get a couple of bottles at Blackpool this year though.

Carr's make one called enviromenth, that's £8.50 I won't get back :emoticon-0136-giggle:

use deosect , or a product with permethrin last up to 3 to 6 months,

can use it on birds also, for lice etc

no insects in my loft ever after using it,

not even moths
