Most fanciers eithet hold the hen over a pan with boiling water in it, the heat brings on the laying. other way is to put oil (any kind of cooking oil) into a syringe, push the syringe into the hens vent until you feel it touching the egg inside and inject the oil in. best syringe for it is the pmv ones. oil is most successful method. jmo. have had hens die with this and had some that have survived.
Tony C Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I found holding their rear end in hot water whilst massaging the vent area helps. After 5 minutes or so of this I rub oil in and around the vent area and repeat the process. After 2 or 3 times of this I pop a couple of cod liver oil capsules down her throat and place her in a basket. Repeat the process after an hour if she hasn't laid. Have always been successful doing this.
buster151 Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 How would people treat if hen was already feeding and going for second round
