Stu3y Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 started out flying last year, done well with youngbirds that i was gifted and bought in etc, now the time has came to pair up for this seasons young, i put them together about 10 days ago, they didnt show any interest so after 3 days i seperated them all, fed them abit less and put hempseed oil on the corn (was told it will hot them up abit and make them more active) I put them back together today, cocks all going mental, but hens still dont seem like they are bothered. am i missing something? should i be locking them in boxes ? its the 1st time ive had to pair up and breed all my own young birds so not really very clued up on this! its really cold here at the minute as well (1-2c) would this effect it?
PATTY BHOY Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Put a hen in every box that is occupied with a cock bird. They`ll soon show interest.

Stu3y Posted January 18, 2016 Author Report Posted January 18, 2016 Are you using lights? Used lights for a week, lights on until 6pm to make the day a little longer
philg50 Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Dont worry ,patience ,i dont split cocks from hens and the birds start going down when i open the boxes ,they do it when they are ready .
