VAGIN Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 After going to a couple of shows over the winter . It came to my notice where are the youths of today . I can recall looking around the shows and all I could see was mostly were mostly the old silver hair brigade myself included . When I was in my early teens 1960ts there were boys sections in each club the older fanciers always encouraged the younger members. passed a lot of knowledge on . I know we cant go back to the good old days but my my it was an education you cant get now.I look at my own club 10 members at least half the members are due to retire in the next few years . No new young blood coming through the door. I see this in many clubs in my federation I dont know the answer or how this can be resolved . Maybe your club has found the secret how to encourage youth into this great sport of ours .Or do we sit on the sideline and watch it from the one loft race system . Food for thought P/S no offence to the Silver hair brigade Im one
bobandson Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 The problem is the same in every fed the cost of a set up for a younger person is to expensive the only chance is they have family or friends in the sport to help them out

Dooheed 5 Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 Come on to be honest which kid in there right mind would want to get into this game nowadays ? Cost,Bop,health etc.The enjoyment of waiting on yer Doos fae a race is being replaced by dread and worry !! Sad but true and also certain Golden oldies are not helping ! Well Nae in my club anyway !!
frankdooman jnr Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 I think we could do more to work and educate the primary schools that might help and also with regards to funding I'm sure the members and the clubs could do more to help by donating birds equipment and even old sheds when they can
leslie24williams49 Posted January 2, 2016 Report Posted January 2, 2016 the times they are a changing....what i notice is that people who have experience of livestock as kids often come back to that interest in later life..
