I was invited to the Commonwealth Games Exhibition of Memorabilla at the Macroberts Center in Stirling University to-day and came across an interesting piece on the 1986 Games in Edinburgh.

It would be interesting to know if any body from that area and in that era if they can recall the following..The Director in charge of the BBC Production intended to liberate 5 thousand Red,White and Blue Doves at the start of the ceremony and had a dummy run with 500 Homing Pigeons dyed in those colours with Cochineal food colouring dye. It transpired according to the report that the released 500 coloured birds were reported in peoples gardens, parks and local streets with the report concluding that the dye had caused the birds to lose their homing ability and the excerise was abandoned. Who I wonder supplied the BBC with streeters ???.
