If you can't tell which is a cock/hen there is a fair chance the birds are not ready to pair for one reason or another

had the same problem a few years ago i was speaking to an old fancier who suggested putting a differant playing card on the front of each nest box he said it worked for him :emoticon-0138-thinking: anyway i never tried it i dont like gambling :emoticon-0136-giggle:

putting the nestbowl in the left hand side of one box and right hand side in the other working from top box to bottom box then switching sides from top to bottom on the next row from top to bottom and so on also helps the birds find there box as does leaving the hens locked in the box a few days when paired gets the cock used to flying up to the box his hen is in

If i was to try this what is a sensible time to leave them before giving up and trying a different combination ?

Thanks for replies by the way.
