Yellowman Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Ive got a number of young pigeons together none of them are established pairs i dont even know what sex they are....will they pair up of their own accord or do i need to physically put them in nestboxes on the off chance they,ll be a cock and hen ?
Guest Redadam Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 They should pair up there self but if u want to put them in pacific pairs u need to chance it and hope they are hen and cocks In each box
dal2 Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 If you can't tell which is a cock/hen there is a fair chance the birds are not ready to pair for one reason or another
greenbar Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 throw some straw into the section, that,ll get them going,
Kennybhoy Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Had a wee prob a couple of weeks ago myself, prob was my nestboxes are all identintical and the cocks were getting mixed up with their own boxes and were fighting with each other when in th wrong nest box, seeked advice from my dad and he advised me to keep every second nestbox half shut with the door open, worked a treat just goes to show for us novices ask the experienced flyers and they'll do their best to help us,thank god for the experienced goys eh bud?atb kenny

walterboswell59 Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 putting the nestbowl in the left hand side of one box and right hand side in the other working from top box to bottom box then switching sides from top to bottom on the next row from top to bottom and so on also helps the birds find there box as does leaving the hens locked in the box a few days when paired gets the cock used to flying up to the box his hen is in

Thanks for replies by the way.
