JohnQuinn Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Lanarkshire was the most populous county in Scotland and, in earlier times, had considerably greater boundaries, including neighbouring Renfrewshire until 1402.[1] In modern times, it is bounded to the north by Stirlingshireand a detached portion of Dunbartonshire, to the northeast by Stirlingshire, West Lothian, to the east by Peeblesshire, to the southeast and south by Dumfriesshire, to the southwest by Dumfriesshire and Ayrshire and to the west by Ayrshire,Renfrewshire and Dunbartonshire.

JohnQuinn Posted November 30, 2014 Author Report Posted November 30, 2014 OK John I can see Lanarkshire from Moffat and I can also see The Borders.Any chance of Michael and me joining Lanarkshire. Never say Never Walter. Actually what would help is if someone could transform the above outline of Lanarkshire to include images then we would see the boundary of Lanarkshire. Which is unknown to 99.9% of fanciers who like to talk/spout about our perimeter

frank-123 Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 http://www.scottish-places.info/counties/countymaps17.html
JohnQuinn Posted November 30, 2014 Author Report Posted November 30, 2014 http://www.scottish-...untymaps17.html That's the one i was looking at Frank. What i need to know about it is whether it pre dates 1973 map, post dates it Or if the map has never changed since the 19th century.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 This one might be a better mapThanks Frank, now fanciers can see the jigsaw boundary that I have been reffering too, this map will be correct of the 1973 map minus the Glasgow, Govan and Rutherglen sections.
