gangster Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I CAN SEE THIS CAUSING SOME MAJOR PROBLEMS AND A LOT OF FALLING OUT JUST AS IT HAS IN SCOTLAND.................................
Guest Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 It will cost members to leave gangster because of the vast no of birds timed in by some and it wiil cause problems amongst the sprint boys but if your distance it wont bother you to much dont let some up here in Scotland mislead you that the problems were about ets they only oppened our eys to more serious problems i was dead against it (and i had it) but not for the reasons some might say i just dont think its the in the best interest of the sport
me Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I CAN SEE THIS CAUSING SOME MAJOR PROBLEMS AND A LOT OF FALLING OUT JUST AS IT HAS IN SCOTLAND................................. it sure will gangja but the point is and I hate to labour the point ,pigeon clubs with less than 30 members are not affected by the amendments to the act.. If the RPRA are stupid enough to try and say it is the "club" and not the association of the clubs (whats its name again Royal Pigeon Racing something or other) it probably will lose members to rival organisations.
tubbles Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I do believe that the sport has to move forward at every opportunity to try and hook more members in but this, i feel could be too big a step. the system itself seems a great way of maybe getting some members back into the sport but As Frank says, the current members that will buy it, need to show some common sense about the amount of birds they time in. Not seen one in action but if members just clock everything in that will make top 20 (top 12 in my club) other members will see they're ar**s. Before anyone says it i know that it does not speed the birds up but on a fast race four in 4 seconds could be a bit annoying if you were leading up until that point. Because don't forget when someone comes in they only say what time they are in not that they have four at that time.
me Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 "but if members just clock everything in that will make top 20 " you have got it in one tubby guys like me and Frank who just want to time in from french races are largely unaffected by Ets but the guys who pay their dues and keep clubs ticking over might not be so enamoured. True story - not 20 miles from where I live there is a fanciers loft and that loft has been banned under his club rules (i think but he certainly agreed to it) from timing more than one bird, this goes back many many years as he used to clean up every prize. Now the guys who used to complain use ETS and time in loads of doos the original guy just times in his "pooler" using an STB. WHAT A SPORT WHAT A TRUE PIGEON MAN. WE NEED MORE GUYS LIKE THAT NOT LESS!!
pigeonscout Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 With ETS pigeon racing will become like most other races and that is the fastest from A to B wins. For the first time we will have a finish line that the bird crosses and when it does its true time will be recorded. As it stands two birds could enter the loft together and there could be a full min between them in the clocking time. So one could be credited with coming first and the other 50th. Most of us have colored TVs, central heating, cars with automatic chokes, and anyone reading this has a computer, You see times change and weather we like it or not we change with them. I hear people say it will kill the sport and fanciers will leave. Why is the sport growing in numbers in the USA from they approved ETS. Why do the fanciers that use ETS say they would never go back to the old system. How can we say it is bad for the sport when tens of thousands of fanciers from all over the world are happy using it. I have been in a club in Holland on race marking night and they do not even have to handle the birds the fancier puts his basket in front of a Perspex tunnel and the birds leave the basket up the tunnel over the sensor plate and into race basket. As fast as the birds walk up the 24ins tunnel they are race marked.
Guest Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 That's a novel one on race marking night, pigeonscout. We still check each bird's ID number agrees with ID number held by the ETS clock/base station.

Not sure if I am understanding your post or not but I will ask this question just in case I have it wrong. Is it in fact that your club or fed or whatever level encourages you to only clock 1 or 2 birds? If this is in fact the way it is I would never want to be third. heck your highly sought after 3rd place finish might have in all actuality been 50th or worse. Were is the logic in it and I am not being sarcastic or anything. This person that gets third probably thinks its a dandy bird and will breed from it when actually the other flyers have lots of birds better than it. Please clarify for me if I am wrong or misunderstood your post. Thanks in advance. Ed
