IF IT IS THE CASE TODAY AT THE SHU MEETING THAT THE ONLY TWO CANDIDATES STANDING ARE JOHN BARLOW AND SCOTT GIBSON, IT WILL BE AS THE HEADING STATES -HEADS YOU LOSE AND TAILS YOU DONT WIN. JOHN BARLOW THINKS HE IS SOMEBODY THAT HAS A GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO PRESIDE OVER EVERY SINGLE THING , IE: LANARKSHIRE FED , SHU, AND CONFEDERATION OF FLIERS, THE MEMBERS OF LANARKSHIRE CLEARLY PUT HIM RIGHT ON THAT FIRST ONE AND MAYBE THE SCOTTISH DELEGATES CAN ALSO PUT HIM RIGHT ABOUT THE SECOND ONE AND IF HE GO'S TODAY THE THIRD WILL FOLLOW AUTOMATICALLY , HE HAS RAILROADED THE SHU FOR TOO LONG AND SOME OF THE THINGS HE HAS ENDORSED ARE BEYOND BELIEF, MAYBE THIS WILL BE HIS DAY OF RECKONING.

 

THE NEXT CANDIDATE IS SCOTT GIBSON WHO HAS ABSOLUTELY NO QUALIFICATIONS NOR THE BRAINS OR EXPERIENCE TO EVEN TRY AND UNDERTAKE SUCH A POSITION, DOUBT IF HE COULD TELL YOU A QUARTER OF THE SHU RULES SO IT AMAZES ME WHY HE IS EVEN STANDING, MAYBE JUST BECAUSE OF THE FEELING OF RESENTMENT WHICH HAS BEEN STIRRED UP AGAINST JOHN BARLOW,AND HE FEELS OR HAS BEEN TOLD THAT NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME FOR HIM TO MAKE A MOVE,  IT WILL BE AN EVEN SADDER DAY IF HE IS SOMEHOW ELECTED BECAUSE I AM SURE HE HAS HIS OWN AGENDA FOR STANDING AND I DOUBT IF IT WOULD BENEFIT THE SHU MEMBERSHIP

yes i think its about time that on this forum if u are going to take part in any discussion regarding politics or serious debate u should be known, as how can u listen to anybody as to what they are or can do if u dont know who they are?

Iam not siding here with either "me " or "me2" but if you are going to have a serious discussion about things happening within the shu or your own fed which are political and you  have posted your real name and you say something that officials do not like you could end up in serious trouble and perhaps put out of pigeon racing altogether, and then if everybody has their name on display it  would really mute a lot of discussion on the forum, i nearly ended up in serious trouble last year because i had made posts on here and they were taken off and handed in to lanarkshire fed because people knew who i was , i never hid anything about me but i feel only from my own point of view that in some instances you should be allowed to have anonymity when you wish to get involved in something that could land you in trouble for expressing your opinion, maybe the way to solve this fifer and bruno would be to remove everybody and then have them rejoin with,only using their real name but was this not a reason for the webmaster to let you have a user name , so that you can make such postings with a user name so as to say your points and remain anonymous, do not really care as most folk know who i am but i feel there would be a lot of muted threads if your name is up beside them

Careful Fifer lad paranoia is a very powerful negative force. i only keep doos to send them "across the water" if i could'nt doo that I might keep a few because I love my birds but I would not get rid of my distance birds to keep inland sprinters.

 

There is no greater thrill on earth for me (well I can think of one but I think she is making a movie on location at the moment) than timing a bird in the "gloaming " from the national.

 

If you have not done that so far in your pigeon life I really do hope you do it in the near future.

Identity and user names are a bit of a mind-field.  

 

Take your point about Lanarkshire last year Tammy. The difference between that and the user name cases being discussed now is clear, you were posting hard facts then with which no-one could quarrel. You were also easily recognisable, and folk who remember that would link your name with honesty and integrity on that issue at least. Anyone that sticks to hard facts surely has nothing to fear?

 

The other point about using own-name-user-names on an open forum is it can be used by the web crawlers to scam personal details and use these in fraud. So I am in-between in their use: readily identifiable yes, but not in-your-face so.

 

But nonsensical user names, and in some cases more than one, are being used here to hide behind to snipe, criticise, post allegations, and constantly put-down people both members on this forum, and others off it. People who do this have no integrity and can expect no credibility with others, except of course of their own  ilk. No way will they ever convince anyone with more than half-a-brain to get on their bus. Used to term these kinda folks 'poisonous little dwarfs' where I worked..  Beds & rattlesnakes also spring to mind.

With respect, I'm not the one posting incessant criticisms of others. So I would say that if , 'having no humility or charity' is true, I alone cannot be charged with having that failing. When for example was the last time you posted up within the confines of the framework (with humility or charity) you seek to impose on me and others but which doesn't apply to you, apparently? My former work colleagues coined a phrase for that too: 'Do as I say, not as I do'.

 

And the post that you commented on was simply a personal thumbnail sketch run-down of the pros and cons of using usernames. When the forum was set up I do not think people knew that it would be used (misused?) in the way it has been, and mostly from behind the anonimity of user names: for example;

 

(1) all sorts of 'apparently or possibly normal things' turned into 'sinister goings-on' by people with axes to grind rather than serious issues to air, and

 

(2) to launch deliberate, constant & personal attacks on people.

 

My descriptions (to which you refer) of the type of people I described in (1) & (2) above are no different from those used by ordinary Joe-public sickened by the actions of some individuals who have acted outwith the accepted norms that society has laid down. This forum after all is one such society.
