swilcox Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 At Last Today I was finally awarded 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 7th West of England South Road Combine Chale 3651birds by the RPRA Council. Its been a long fight and it has taken the shine off my dream performance but im still very proud. I would like to thank the East Midlands for hearing my case and voting 18 – 4 in my favour, it was very professionally dealt with. No time to rest on my laurels, next week brings a new challenge and I always believe you are only as good as your last race. I’m still thrilled though. Stuart Wilcox

swilcox Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 Sorry lads i should say why, it didnt concern my birds or me but a fancier who was removed from the result on the grounds of his velocity being improbable. Vic At first im a pigeon fancier and if you cant be proud of a result like that whats the point in flying at all??

Swilcox !!!!!!!, just as a matter of general interest etc now, what was the improbable velocity & at what distance was the race, compared to the eventual winner on the day. PS Well done on your effort !!!!!, we all would be proud to achieve such a result. Enjoy.

Stuart Wilcox Well done Stuart, absolutely top class flying that mate! Its good to hear as that proves their are good fliers on here that actually do "walk the walk" and not just "talk the talk!!" Very well done!
swilcox Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 LT, i have spent months going over this case and now that its over i dont really want to go through it again, it was mainly a problem that our combine didnt have any rules in place to deal with appeals!!
joe61 Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 could some one tell me what an inprobble vellocity is and how somebody can come to that assumption as i thought the name of the game was to get a pigeon to fly faster from race point to home quicker than evryones pigeon in that race oh happy days

jimmy white Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 good results are hard to get , so why not mention this result ,, well done stuart ,,,,its a pity in the pigeon world today we have such jealousy , this spoils it . [do fanciers think that the powers that be [with there experience and knowledge ] dont know what an improbable vel is , no , the last thing they would want to do ,is take a result from someone , so it has to be done for a reason [and they will know the reason ]
joe61 Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 i dont know the reason so could someone be so kind asto tell me oh happy days
DOVEScot Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 i would have thought you would know ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I don't know either Chriss so can you or anyone explain "improbable velocity" everyday is a school day
pjc Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 for the uneducated, an improbable velocity would be a velocity that exceeds that expected or atainable with weather conditions / wind direction. i.e birds lib at 9.00, bird clocked at 10.00 flying 60miles = 1760 ypm. slight tail wind would be expected velocity, head wind would be improbible velocity!

Thanks for explaining So does that mean they were suspected of cheating to attain an improbable velocity or should it be impossible velocity to prove they were :-/
pjc Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 it is possible for a bird to escape before liberation which would give an improbable velocity and be way out in front. I would never acuse anybody of cheating without proof or knowing all the facts!
Guest Vic Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 At one time in the Amal, there was a ruling regarding improbable/impossible velocities. I can't remember exactly how it was worded, but it was something like this. (1st place only, obviously) If a bird beats the next bird by 10 seconds over each minute flown, it will be deemed an improbable/impossible velocity. (subject to an emergency committee meeting). Over the years there were one or two disqualified on this simple, but effecient ruling. It may have even have been five seconds.Food for thought. Vic.
