Dalesman Posted September 10, 2014 Report Posted September 10, 2014 I have a 12x6 loft being delivered at the weekend. Do I need a base putting down or can the shed stand on breeze blocks ? What height should it be raised from ground level?
andy Burgess Posted September 10, 2014 Report Posted September 10, 2014 would be ok on "breeze blocks" as long as its stable. would reccomend at least a 12" space to allow air-flow. would also say a membrane so you dont get weeds coming through beneath the loft .
Dalesman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Report Posted September 10, 2014 Thanks !I don't want to go to additional expense if its not necessary.
greenbar Posted September 10, 2014 Report Posted September 10, 2014 good luck with your build. mind the photo,s when it,s done.
Dalesman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Report Posted September 10, 2014 good luck with your build. mind the photo,s when it,s done. 'll get them on here asap. This site has been brilliant, I look forward to getting set-up and starting with my first birds asap. Thank you !
showman Posted September 10, 2014 Report Posted September 10, 2014 For a 12x6 loft I would have 15 block pillars and possibly 5 or 6 heavy rafters laid before I lay the floor down. Plenty of support to take any 'bounce' out of the floor, and not allow it to 'bow'. Floor needs to be good and solid. OMO.
