Guest Vic Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 During a conversation with the Western Region secretary, who is also secretary of the local Wednesday club, the Sefton Midweek, the usage of the ETS came up. You will be looking for another secretary! he declared! If ETS ever gets in here. Now I am led to believe that he has got his way, because the assocciating club. the Fazackerly will not accept the ETS System. Yet there are members within these clubs AND ANOTHER LOCAL CLUB to boot, who are opting for the ETS System. and are tri members of the three clubs involved. Should the minorities rule the roost sez vic? Little Hitler or What?
DOVEScot Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Sounds a bit like maving your cake and eating it too, if thet are tri members
Guest Vic Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Sounds a bit like maving your cake and eating it too, if thet are tri members Come down, you clown, cos I caint understand your brogue.
Guest jamesa Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 get the ets members to do the secretary job and maybe they can have it but i bet that wont happed :'( :'( :'(
Roland Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Well only one club has opted for the ET's in our federation, and only one flyer in my South rd club. Am in the South Rd, and in two clubs North Rd. Now say I bought a ET Clock, the nearest Marking Station for the NRCC club don't have and aren't interested to say the least in ET clocking for them .... now that would mean 70 miles each way trip to one that maybe. But within a year or two I feel this will change.
Merlin Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Its only a matter of time till E,T,S, will be used by all "competitive"members no competitive fancier will give another the edge in any aspect, shape, or form, this is down to human nature,I would never opt for it,but will not give any competitor "time" to beat me,as yet we dont use it,but it only takes one to start its introduction,in the bigger picture its not helping this game of ours in any way, much more urgent issues that needs attention.
pjc Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 If I was one of the tri members I would send my birds with a club that uses ETS and duplicate them into the anti club! Sure then other members will start and do the same, non of the members would bother going to the anti club then! Sure the sec would soon change his mind! Phil
THE FIFER Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 once you get using ETS you will find all its advantages, I was against it when it was first introduced, but now wonder how we managed without it.
joe61 Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 this is where the RPRA i fear is lacking when the ETS was tested and cleared to come in to the sport the RPRA should have made a rule stating ie all affiliated members to the RPRA must be useing the ETS SYSTEM by the end of 2008 or they will not be eligable to race in 2009 then we would not have this im for it and im not debate the region sec must be of the old school stick to what i am safe with we dont need to PROGRESS
gangster Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 ive got to agree with joe61 on this , rpra doing what they do best dragging there heels.....MAKE A DECISION AND THATS THE END OF IT!!!!!!!!!!
Guest scoobybob Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I am new to the sport but soon will have to purchase some form of clocking system. If I purchase a std clock for manual clocking will I have wasted my money as the ETS system looks like its here to stay. What is the objection with ETS? to me it sounds like the ETS is the best system to have.
DOVEScot Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Come down, you clown, cos I caint understand your brogue. Ok just for you vic, if they are members of three different clubs who all have different systems then the can opt for any one they like, whether it be ETS or clock Maybe I misunderstood your definition of tri members Best regards DOVEScot the clown ;D ;D ;D

Guest IB Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 See Peter Bryant put a clarification of ETS rules in BHW 11th April:- clubs can't refuse ETS; no time penalties on fanciers using ETS; That seems clear enough. :X
Guest Vic Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 But, if nobody is willing to touch the system, in the club. What can one do?
jimbobboy Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Jimbobboy says: We use both old and Unikon systems in our club Scoobybob. I just got back into flying and too much money for me to lay out!!! If your whole or a lot of flyers buy teel them to get a big discount from ETS- vendor!!! I'll say one thing about it!! It's as good as apple pie and Chevolet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once system is in place.
superstar Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 But, if nobody is willing to touch the system, in the club. What can one do? Educate and convert the non believers! Get them to visit a club and lofts where ETS is already in use and if they are not sold on it there and then have a complete change of officials in the club concerned at the next AGM or better still fly in a more modern thinking club and leave the old school to themselves

sammy Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 and leave the old school to themselves ,if it was not for the old old school yi wouldnt have the calibre of pigeons you have to day and there is more important issues than squabling over a timming system

And well we ETS users are thanking them for a better calibre of Pigeon maybe they will thank us for introducing them to a much better clocking system?
Pompey Mick Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 As a secretary who has just felt his way through 25 ETS systems and 25 members worth of ring allocation I can quite understand other Secretaries being reluctant to take on this work load. I am pro ETS, but it has been a long learning curve, and the recent updates haven't helped. But every cloud has a silver lining and I inputted 16 members birds (127) directly into the FSS race program in a matter of minutes directly from the clocks. Basketting went quite smoothly, no hiccups with the birds, printing the sheets took a little time. Clock checking was very relaxed and the results went a dream (apart from my own performance). If it carries on like this it has been worth the extra work.

Glad to know most things went o.k. in the end for ya Mick, our first race this weekend, allthough we used it last year still a bit concerned what with all these updates, heard today that members have had a letter fron Unikon about another new update.
