Ronnie Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I dunno if this is the right place to put this. But here go's Why are scribes in the pigeon press aloud to right about positions and results and not put the birdage sent it would stop alot of false bloody advertising and aint it funny how when the scribes arnt in the running no article is in the local press that week?I wont mention names because this post will just get removed by mod's then but ive just read an article where the scribe is more or less saying another winner is mob flying(scribe wasnt in the running). Then hark on about how he took such prize money in an average race when there was only about 30 birds went and he sent most of them.He go's on about how he took so many birds on the night but fails to mention the other fed he sent to where he didnt clock in.I know this is just a rant but it dont half get my back up surely the pigeon press should make all results contain birdage and members sent to each race then we could see whether the scribes birds wich are going to be up for sale over the winter season are actually worth buying.Dont get me wrong this isnt aimed at all the pigeon scribes the majority seem to be well written informative articles and if youve taken offense by this i appologise but then again if the cap fits wear it. Ronnie
OLDYELLOW Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I use to read the two publications up until the ets debate was on every page and article so i canceled both my subsciptions , i used to like to read the articles on breeds , new methods, , the club results supliments and how to prevent ectra as you have to keep up to keep in front of the game, I suppose all articles writen should have the race details on top i.e members name, mileage , birds sent and velocity , then you can work out if the self biased view printed below is worth reading.
ch pied Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 ron , you got a point there , all birdage & member's sent , distance & vel , should be stated , then a prospective buyer , can check with sec , for verification of same ,

Ronnie Hi Ronnie, I am a scribe for the RP - most scribes put in the info they are given re birdage, number sent etc...... If people want to blow smoke up their own A***s then that is up to them, I know I for one don't and never will. I put every result I receive in the article. In my opinion people who are purchasing birds from other should be asking the question re birdage numbers, club members etc - it is not up to the scribe to find out, surely. Thery just wouldn't have the time. I have sold pigeon's myself (on the back of our performances) not what I have written in an article. - Every pigeon I have sold wouldn't have been put in the paper, If I didn't rate the pigeon myself (testomany to that is the number of call I receive about our birds perfomances) Do you know, I very rarely, if ever get asked 1) how we have raced that season 2) has the particlur bird(s) bred anything - whixh is very surprising, as it is the first questions I always ask when I am buying. P.S I know that you weren't having a go at my articles, but I have an idea who it is!
Guest cloudview Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 hi ronnie would i be right , if i said he or they report about birds in an around cheshire ,

Guest chrisss Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 no i think it was a fair comment we all have seen these "backdoor ads" done by some scribes always around this time of year always about this years "wonder strain"
Roland Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I don't write now... but did a fair bit a little while back, 3/4 years back. Indeed but am often asked, in fact very often asked, to start my column up again. Doubt if this will ever happen, but who knows. I ruffled a few feathers lol and had some threats lol. Indeed iOne club was so riddled with a bad conscoius that they thougfht I was referring to them... could have bben too, but wasn't on that occasion. I'd agree with Simon 100% in what he has stated. i never did put in results though... was two oters doing that in my area. But one must also be aware, and realise a simple fact. Truth is they are human, and some are there to better their own nests, and others after feathering their' nest a re interested in others birds... take that how you wish. Also, some are blatant hypoocrites, and deliberately use their space to enhance friend and circles. Know of some that are deliberately fibbing and stating untruths, and many know this, unfortunately there is a lot of B/S believed and harm to trusting folks and especially to the fancy at large. Good golly, sure the scribes words must be reliable, accruate - as far as posile - and in the interest of the sport as a whole. Of course the simple fact is 'It's Not' and 'It won't be'.
