PATTY BHOY Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Central fed were there last week and turned into a complete disaster. Have heard that percy just waits for lib then just attacks.
scottym7 Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 I hate this race point with a passion as i lost my best hen ever along with several other good birds, last year i decided i was not sending but gave in and sent 7, this year i have missed it out and will do for the future, i am not prepared to throw my bird away. I watched a documentary a few years ago and it was about the Bermuda Triangle of pigeon racing and Consett was the heart of it.I will never race from here again, several of my friends have lost allot of birds this weekend from this point.
TOMMY R Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Central fed were there last week and turned into a complete disaster. Have heard that percy just waits for lib then just attacks. I have watched several libs from consett over the years and have never seen a peregrine attack them . the local peregrine sites i know of are 1/2 mile north of towlaw/ gibside monument rowlandsgill 6 miles from consett witton castle ( have seen them attack the libs here) ferryhill 2 miles from aycliffe the north west lib yesterday was one of the best libs i have seen the birds out of the transporter formed one batch and headed straight north into the cold north wind i can not vouch for the almond valley as we left to a 9.30 to get ready for our birds returning up untill 9.30 we never saw any birds return to the site last week the central fed birds lib at 7.30 was full cloud cover cold strong west nw winds the birds would not clear kept going away then returning several local fanciers reported getting su birds in saturday afternoon & sunday morning i.m.o what happened yesterday was not at the racepoint tommy riddle nehu vice president
knoxjn Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 I watched the northwest lib and the birds cleared at once and did not return our lib at ten one hour later was the same
peter pandy Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 I suppose the losses were not compiled due to the heavy RAIN & HAILSTONE showers between Consett and Central Scotland something the race controllers could not control.

Guest IB Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Saturday's weather turned bad, we had hail at the home end, so that north wind was colder than expected. Consett sits nearly 1000 feet above sea level, and IMO a liberation there would be well above normal peregrine hunting levels, and with no hills between there and home topping 1000 feet, IMO you liberate into a safe zone for the birds, providing they stay in it, maybes the only danger being overshoot at the home end... but you have to add Saturday's weather and cold to that.
