andyyy Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 if i was you mate i'd try one or the other with the hours you work, i work 8 til 4 5 days a week and i can only race cocks with the short time i have so.. atb
sheppy27 Posted August 19, 2014 Author Report Posted August 19, 2014 hate the thought of wasting hens but having a working system is more important i suppose i have a few months to work something out more reading up i guess lol my loft aint going up until after xmas bit early to be worrying yet
just ask me Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 what ever the system keep it simple my advice would be to just go with the cocks then you can work from from there
Wiley Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 This year I raced both cock and hens, and I have to say it is time consuming, with those hours of work I couldn't see it working unless u had a racing partner, but IMO racing hens is the best decision I've ever made in racing

Think with the hens they are a lot tougher and don't fight in the basket and can go every week cause they recover faster. Widowhood cocks seem to be dropping off with the queer weather/racing days we seem to suffer from
geordie1234 Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 I spoke to a widowhood fancier who flew both but said if he was stuck for time he would pick hens every time
dwh Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Waste hens?Race the hens better than cocksPersonally think if you racing both you need more hens so cocks have something waiting at this endDon't think cocks do really well on r/about after first two races JMO

Next year will have the cocks hens boxed up and kept at home and will have my hens on natural

Weekly team of hens My mates topped the amal from bourges with a r/about hen Give me hens anytime you might get one or two pairing up but just more incentive and you can law a us slip a chipping egg or gollie from the stock loftJon
