my pick out my team for the nat today did not get hear till after 4oclock .it pissed me right off .tried to get my head round it.then spoke to a fancier with more experience than me.he said look on the bright side he is home he does not race well in blow homes .with a bit rest and good feeding he will be a strip fitter than the others come the next nationl as he was longer on the wing. so learning a wee bit more and looking at something that pissed me of with a diffrent view.

your not to bad at that Gary i know a lot whos picks aint home tonight too

swings and roundabouts we all get a kick in the cobblers back and forth lol

might just work in your favour for latter on

kenny this is your 1st year racing .looking at your 1st post the bird you thought would be your time in was the blue hen.is she showen she is best out the 4?. you will find it is sometimes a lot harder to get a bird in a blow home than a 1200 /1300 race. . like i have been told you had a bad race 1st look at yourself.look how you fed them trained them check their not a wee thing birds might have picked up.then look type of race today a blow home my own birds normaly fly total crap in a fast race.then think how hard would it have been for your 4 to all head the wrong way after a bop went in to them or even turn tail at the sight of a pair of buzzards.their will be a lot of fanciers out their that sent only 4 birds to races 290/300 and never seen 1 of them. also the birds are doing over 60 mph very easy for birds to over shoot

Aye ano m8,but after thinking about it and thinking of some of the things the guys and advice I'm thinking I'm only a small team and on a day yesterday with the speed the birds were homing at the birds could be in Aberdeen as far as I know v strong winds, also better men than me have lost better pigeons than me and will do again,to be honest a wiz expecting a descent race from them as I thought the loft was starting to hit a wee bit of form,so I suppose I was a wee bit shocked as well,as I said it's my first ob season and yest was a big learning curve for me(I know I'm punching above my weight just now),I got one at 8.27 last nite well flown but not injured so he's ob went on too far, also I never once blamed anyone for my bad race but I hope that's my last bad yin for a while(don't want tae b on here greetin again next wk)lol,ii feel sorry for the missus wae me strop pin about the hoose no wantin tae talk tae anybody haha, thanks to all for the replies and advice but it doe sent make me feel any better when other guys hav had stinkers too..like ma old always says tae me when their in the basket or in the sky their no your doos tae their back in the loft, cheers for the reply higg n hope you get some more back, atb for rest of season bud, kennybhoy

02.45am, so 5 hours 15 before liberation which you would think should be enough, but perhaps serious thought has to be given on whether an extra day in the basket for a race at 300 miles is of benefit to the pigeons.

Gareth worth considering that all races over 200mls basketed on a Sat should be between 12 and 1.00pm

Gareth, I think your wrong saying they need to be down there resting a day and a half before libbing. How can it possibly be better keeping yer doos an extra day in a basket and then what if you have a hold over, another day in the basket? I think almost 6 hours rest is suffice , less stress more success ;) The nat had a better race than yer fed last weekend, but that's unusual, is it not? The nat had a good race because it was a paper bag day and its as simple as that. They are talking about Buckingham as a great race point but wait to see how we do in an east, west or head wind. Guaranteed THEY WILL BE CHANGING THE RACE POINT AGAIN.I wonder how the yb Nat from there will go :emoticon-0138-thinking:

A little drastic but I don't disagree, fanciers in Scotland have been spoiled for years, it's always about the member's rather than the pigeons. There are organisations which basket the pigeons between 07.00- 08.30 for the longer races. There's a lot to discuss at the race program meeting in October, lets hope the members attend to voice their opinions.

Hardly a day and a half Derek, anyway it all comes down to if a pigeon is rested enough after 4 -5 hours, also that it's orientation is sharp enough after so little rest of that of 4-5 hours, especially for s race of 300 Miles.

Gareth tried to pm u the other day m8 just to say that on reflection and the replies to the post I got,I jst had a bad race,it's happened to better men than me n will do again, after reading the replies m8 I don't think it's gonae be a big difference where we go next season but I'll be at the gam to have my vote, also like to say I never blamed anyone for my race but myself it was just that I thought my birds were coming into a bit of form then bang..wisnae expecting it but that's racing nowadays I suppose,on a better note I came home from work tonight and another one back fae sat,so that's 3/4 noo I'm no dain that bad considering some of the other fancies losses, atb for the rest ae the season m8, kennybhoy
