Guest bigda Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 and rightly so they should dob you in if you have not got a salmon permit you should not take a salmon i have always stuck by the rules there is only 2 rivers that i know of that have this rule and guess what the both are ran by daftys or the council the other been the forth and they have it you put your first fish back, you might never get another all year the clyde will follow suit yet will not put in a parr to stock it rod caught on the clyde is about 60 fish last year yet i have seen 5 artics on the one day been loaded jamb packed from drift nets in sutherland and they never pay to stock fish, and it is an offence for a fisherman to sell his one fish to a hotel or to anyone, such a grip have the gentry got on the rod angler. on our rivers, and for that reason i would not give the UCAAT nothing there next move is flyfishing only then with barbless hooks, they have about 200,000 in the bank and where there is that kind of money about you get trouble, and ones no wanting to part with if.

Guest bigda Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) you are correct gulkie those days are gone but what a thrill at night pitch black and a good fish takes you nearly pulling the rod out of your hand fished with a mate on the Nith, through the night when he hooked INTO what he thought was a sea trout at night. the water was on the rise and he was on the flea with a 12 ft rod then he hit. there was me having to stop fishing for about 1hour and a bit and me holding the NeT for the way this was going ever time it came to the top with the current it would tump thump down on the rod, as it was DARK as a bag we couldent see what was on the other endthis had all the feeling of a good fish, but what it was was a frigging chip pan basket, but when the current got hold of it it was like you had a fish on, we laughed all night at that we ended up the both of us got 2 sea trout about the 2 1/2 lbmark. what a night Edited February 25, 2014 by bigda
