DBA421 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Horrific reports about groups of guys paying with counterfeit £20.00 notes for pigeon products and others stealing thousands of pounds from stands. In one case - this was over £6000. 00. Theft from stands appear to be the order of the day. I know when I had hundreds of pounds stolen from our stand at Blackpool, I went to see security to see if the security cameras had recorded anything, it was a waste of time as it appeared very few, if any, were working or used. They did not appear to be at all interested . I went to the police station to report the theft and all they did was give me an incident number. It would appear the security has not improved since then.
Tinkerbell Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 The general managers lap top was taken out his office and a tablet /iPad was taken from benzing ets stand and a large amount of money from an other ets stand on Saturday
paddymac Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Its a thiefs paradise when theres such a large gathering of people together especially when their attention is focused elsewhere. Have to feel sorry for those that have had goods and money stolen but it has brought the attention that an adequate security system needs to put in place for future gatherings and checked on a regular basis to ensure that they are in working order. At the end of the day its us the fancier that will carry the blame for this and not the organised gangs that thrive on such gatherings.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 On Saturday afternoon we were standing at the Boddy and Ridewood stand and three scumbags were helping themselves to some perches out front,I told the guy on the stand and he came running out after them and started to blow a whistle and when he blew that some security guards came running in after them as well, they caught them took the stuff of them and put them out, a lot of the thieving is not done by the fancy but by lowlife who know there might be some easy pickings at the show.

cemetary Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 This will be one of the reasons why the tradestands are getting lesser every year There is always some *expletive removed*..... Spoil it every year Trade stands are more or less getting dearer to set up.
Novice Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Robbery at Blackpool is an art form and comes in many guises including admission fees, overpriced products, and ghost bidders to name but a few.
seabreeze Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 this has been going years, two years ago 20 pound notes were been sold for a fiver so this is nothing new, there is no way of checking them at shows or markets and they cant be banked as its goodbye to your money, pity really its spoiling it for us all,it can only make the stall holders think twice of having a stall their again.
alex wight Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I had been in the show for all of 5 minutes when a short bald guy and a scruffy guy, hit me in the back, and I heard him say "he's yours". As I turned around he was ready to dip my pockets, we got eye contact, and he had the look of fear as tho he was going to get a kicking. Had I been quick enough, that would have been the least if his worries. I too was standing right behind those guys at boddyridewood, glad they got caught. I've got to ask the question, why don't the stall holders step up their security?? There's far too much stuff there for the taking, it's a shame these bandits will ruin it for everyone else. It's been going on for years, so why hasn't the organisers done something about it.
pjc Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Theft at Blackpool happen every year, a lot is by organised gangs!A few years ago we were in the Hilton and there was a group on a table at breakfast sorting who was getting what from where including birds, all being stolen to order.
