Guest IB Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Reading Unikon handbook last night and a bit unclear on when data is transferred to the Race Results Program - handbook infers that it is done when the clock is read - ie when each clock is struck off? That doesn't make sense to me, I would have thought the time to transfer race data was after the last clock has been read, en bloc? The ETS system is a Unikon base station reading all other ETS clocks via a Universal cable. I have never done it before and would appreciate guidance from anyone that has. And where there is more than one marking station, the 2nd station's data is added to the first? It adds new data rather than overwrites existing data? Only conventional clock times need be manually input?

ovy1255 Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 dont try to confuse at my club so what i do is first[unikon]read off each clock and print off each members clocking list x how many you need .after all clocks are done including bricon i connect laptop to system and synk unikon clocks to unikon manager program----then i input bricon results off clocking sheet manually and useing pigeon ring list previously put in laptop i select pigeon and this adds it to result.problem is next week that bird is missing off list so you have to keep putting birds back in list when useing unikon manager --when i spoke to rep about this they know about it but dont intend doing anything about it and was told to buy unikon.if i can help pm me .
Guest IB Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 Many thanks for your replies / pm. Current system seems to be hard wired at club level only, and geared to transferring one clock's data at a time rather than the whole club's base station data 'transferred in a oner' after the last clock has been struck off. I suspect even then most clubs don't transfer the data by cable. And as soon as we step up one level (to Federation) we revert back to using the computer as a glorified typewriter, just like navvies but using a keyboard instead of a pick and shovel.
