DAVIDL Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 most people and even the police dont know what a pure pitbull looks like, but the police can say the dog is a "pitbull type" and this covers them to take it........near where i live there are gangs of youths hanging round the streets with the most obvious looking pitbulls you could emagine, but the police drive past them and dont do a thing, not that id want anything to happen to the dogs but ive seen on a number of occassions dogs "playfighting" which is teaching them to want to fight. >
terry mccarthy Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 anything over a certain size now on a pitbull type can be destroyed it all depends wat your police force is like down here there bullies and think they are above anyone else wouldnt mind most look like they just got out of nappys
Guest Owen Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Another very good guard dog is the Belgium Malinoise. This breed is used widely in America. They are fast, brave and intelligent. Slightly lighter in wieght than a German Sheperd but make up for it with their energy. Whereas the German Sheperd can drag his criminal down the Malinoise tends to leap and knock the criminal to the floor. Best used to grab and hold the intruder rather than frighten them as some breeds do. Someone said that the Akita looks like a pussy cat. You ought to try to pass one when it is on guard. It is one of the fiercest dogs there is. But if you want a seriously fierce dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback will take some beating. Although I have not had personal experience with all of them, any South African Guard Dog is very up for it. They have been bred for it.
Guest 67ghirl Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 in my opinion German shepherds /alsatians make the best guard dogs . more brains and sense than most. German Shepherds - highly intelligent - sometimes so much that they are stupid!!!!! Seriously though they are fantastic Protective Family Dogs -depends on the training - mine would 'cuddle' you to death - but I would never argue with one that has been trained as an 'attack' Dog.

Thats right Owne. the Boerbull has been bred for guarding but also make an excellent family pet. to be fair, anything that is brave enough to hunt Lions has to be fearless!
