Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 No matter where we train we will be dived on it is purely our luck. Wish every single member the very best for the coming young birds season all the best guysCorrect George, luck is required these days to avoid the BOP, though there is something that every member can do to help limit these attacks, BUT WILL THEY ??
gulkie Posted July 12, 2013 Author Report Posted July 12, 2013 Hi I don't have the answers when I first started in 1960the program was Annan, Penrith, Shap, Lancaster, Prestonreturns where good but during the 1980s they were gettingdismel and a switch to the east route seemed the answerand it was. Have to say that 2013 racing the east route has been a disappointing year for me lost a lot of birds I blame our controller for Leicester in which I did not get 50%returns but apart from that not good returns at allThere comes a point when you have to say is all this worththe effort CheersHomer 49A lot of us in the same boat Alec I don't kid myself on for a minute that the centre Route will solve our problems but we have to be seen to be trying to make it betterIt ain't going to get any better .i don't think it's fair to blame the controller either asHe has so many obstacles to overcome in to-days racing .
gulkie Posted July 12, 2013 Author Report Posted July 12, 2013 Correct George, luck is required these days to avoid the BOP, though there is something that every member can do to help limit these attacks, BUT WILL THEY ??Thought we had exhausted everything Gareth.

bigjamie Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 so the hell do we it never fails a certain club cry help all the time and always get there way what happens if we get a bad yb race from the west and this club cry to go back east are they going to get there own way as a member of lanarkshire fed i think for the size of us we are a joke what happens every year east west no wonder there so many losses the birds are getting messed about with all this carry on
Delboy Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 so the hell do we it never fails a certain club cry help all the time and always get there way what happens if we get a bad yb race from the west and this club cry to go back east are they going to get there own way as a member of lanarkshire fed i think for the size of us we are a joke what happens every year east west no wonder there so many losses the birds are getting messed about with all this carry on Spot on Jamie, PANICSHIRE is the word.
Delboy Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 As alan says he knows a guy who does it with an old wicker basket with no probs...Regardless of what amount goes in a basket I will go with the fed and myself *expletive removed* stress on the poor ybs, poor show and unnecessary.
Guest chad3646 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 glad you can see the problems that we have with EGM, and turkeys now voting for Christmas, yes applby be is right smack in the middle of the m6 and A1 just in time for the glorious 12 shooting to start all moorland all the way home from there and turkeys are now voting for christmas, brilliant bigda lol
geordie1234 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 *expletive removed* stress on the poor ybs, poor show and unnecessary. That's up to the fancier to decide what he want's to do, me personally when I've been going training lately I've split 42 over 3 large baskets not because I can't get more in each basket but because I can fit 3 baskets in my car and more room the better ofcoarse however not everyone can fit 3 large baskets in there car

JohnQuinn Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 John Dougal, Aldo Thompson (before he started driving the Newmains van) , Hugh (Shug) Harkin, All 3 fanciers have won out of turn in club and Federation racing. Winning multiple trophies in both organisations and on both routes. Common Denominator??? Training out of CRAWFORD, regardless of race points. Ask them if ye don't believe me and while yer at it ask them were their losses worse from Crawford or Meldons, bet you London to an Orange neither Lib site was any better than the other. Another thing while am here, there will NEVER be 50 doos in one crate on our transporters for training or otherwise and i don't care who that upsets. We're no into cruelty to birds and imo 50 would be just that...... For once my opinion/position counts here !!! Gareth, could you post pick up points and approximate times for us please. Cheers John.
geordie1234 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 How many youngbirds to a crate John? I think 35-38 would be fine but again whatever the fed chooses I will be training regardless with the fed...........it offers great education for the youngsters and you don't get a second chance educating them after year off birth

I think 35-38 would be fine but again whatever the fed chooses I will be training regardless with the fed...........it offers great education for the youngsters and you don't get a second chance educating them after year off birth I think Gareth called it right with Max of 35 per crate for training.
geordie1234 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 I think Gareth called it right with Max of 35 per crate for training. That seems fair
walterboswell59 Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 A lot of us in the same boat Alec I don't kid myself on for a minute that the centre Route will solve our problems but we have to be seen to be trying to make it betterIt ain't going to get any better .i don't think it's fair to blame the controller either asHe has so many obstacles to overcome in to-days racing .i had 11 birds injured in leicester the race controller did not injure them they were attacked and got away or dived into trees for cover and were injured imo

Cheers John.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Pick up times have been posted on new thread.
JohnQuinn Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't nearly all of Scotland suffer 2 weeks running, the weeks we (Lanarkshire) were at Newark and Leicester???I lost 7 pigeons from an average sized team in the first 5 races of the program, 6 of them (mix of Yearlings and 2 yr olds) were in a basket for the first time this season. If your own losses in those first 5 races were SIGNIFICANTLY worse than mine then you ought to spend more time at the mirror. jmo. To point the finger of blame away from yourself is futile and ruinous to reputations, YOUR reputation that is!!!
