Guest chad3646 Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 i have heard pigeon fanciers talking, about how old should the beans be before feeding to the pigeons some say two years old, the reason i am asking this, many years ago my father and grandfather were out walking in the country ,they came across the farmer harvesting his bean crop, they noticed he was having problems with the harvester, it kept breaking down it was,nt lifting the beans right, they were scattered all over the field, my father asked the farmer if he could lift the beans that were in the field, the farmer said ok they would g be getting ploughed in anyway, my father and grand father managed to get a couple of bags of the beans, he said it was the best young bird season he,s had by just feeding beans, so so much for these super mixtures
Tony C Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 my preference are yearling beans, ya get more in a bag when dried out

Roland Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Well Old beans carry less fat. Now whether good or bad depends a lot I guess on what distance one races. But for me Tic Beans are 25% protien which is why I, personally, like some for Breeding and feeding their youngsters.
