I think Graham a pigeon can only absorb so much protein and the rest is excreted.Therefore, theres more than enough in normal breeding mixes.

I think there are too much superfluous products fed to pigeons when rearing and also when racing. I think we can get a bit brainwashed by clever marketing of various products and tend to forget that its the ability within the pigeon which makes it a good one. I know of a gold award winner that was very badly reared full of fret marks and yet it went on to win a gold award with the snfc and was also responsible for plenty pigeons to score at 500mls.
