PigeonDetective Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Has anybody had experiences of lighter coloured (whites etc) birds being more prone to being taken by raptors or is this mostly a misconception?
andyyy Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Old wives tale in my opinion. I have a few whites, and grizzles and really gay pied and not had a problem.
andy Burgess Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Has anybody had experiences of lighter coloured (whites etc) birds being more prone to being taken by raptors or is this mostly a misconception?Babybird (my Wife) has a loft full of "white doo,s" they are taken by the hawk , mainly because they are flown all year round . however if on occasion we have the "odd" gay pied among them , THEY are first to go. they stand out more
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Has anybody had experiences of lighter coloured (whites etc) birds being more prone to being taken by raptors or is this mostly a misconception?we race our white birds and flying round the loft had plenty other colors taken at home but up till now at the loft we have not lost any whites while out flying so in my own opinion it is just a myth
john cumming Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 i agree, just a myth, i have intoduced some grizzles & many nearly white into my loft over the past few years and imo the grizzles have not been any more hit than the others john
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 i think a hawk will target one that stands out the most ie a white flying with loads blue's or the weakiest flyer only my opinion
maverick Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 I got 4 fantails to sit around loft last year the hawk was hitting my loft every other day only to say the young racing birds were the ones the hawk hit never once did it go for the fantails
