It is there to try to fight Gordon Browns decision to use the anti-terrorism act against Iceland.

And before someone says it, i know very well that some Icelandic bank owners have done a number on many people in England but they have also done bad things to us, the people of Iceland.

Hogni,

Being almost a next door neighbour I have a great deal of sympathy for the people of Iceland caught up in this surreal war of figures. It amazes me how figures on a monitor can cause so much havoc when greedy people get involved. I dont think Gordon Brown's use of the anti-terrorism act was helpful in this case, it will come back to bite him on the bum for sure. The real culprits are all the banks who gave out silly loans to people who could never repay and the chancers who use the stock market to make a fast buck. I hope it gets sorted out sooner rather than later... There must be a better way.

What's important is good friends, good beer and good music.... and whalemeat...mmmmm well maybe not whalemeat (although I remember it was good.)

Take it easy Hoggers, you'll be up to your knackers in snow by now?

I don't know what law Iceland invoked to withold British money held in Icelandic banks, but I'm sure that as soon as that matter is resolved Mr Brown will be only to willing to do the same in return.

I see Gordon brown as more of a terrorist the way him and his goverment have helped bring this country to its knee's is appalling.Maybe we should be looking into why the councils and various departments had money in foreign banks in the first place.

No i dont see you as a terrorsist .

A law is a law, to be used as enforcement agencies see fit, regardless of the reason for it's introduction.  Nobody is suggesting that Iceland is using the money for terrorism, merely using it to keep it's economy afloat.  Yes, G Brown along with other world leaders have practised poor financial management, but, it would seem, a little better than Iceland's leaders.

Ronnie Psst... Psst there's a world recession on it's way, and most effects have started!!!

Remember the last time we had a reccession... wasn't worldwide then, just that Thatcher and her coronies emptied our coffers. Thatcher gave everything to her mates, and took away any 'Watch Dog' powers! Yes had to sell off to replenish what she had given away!  Also allowed councils to invest overseas! That is why they had 'Our money there!

Painfaul, hateful days them!

No I don't see Iceland as a terrorist state, and I don't see why it should be singled out, as World banking system is tottering on near collapse just now thanks to its own questionable practices.

Can't see anything wrong with investing 'abroad' - if you have the money and you want to do it - it is supposed to be a Global economy.

I don't see you as terrorists but we want our money back, my son has £9,000 tied up in your governments banking system and the government are using only a part of terror legislation to try and get it back, sad that it has come to this but I am sure a lot of others in the same situation would want their governments to get their monies back

Nothing personal just bureaucracy on both sides :-/

Politics are not what we are about, its the many lasting friendships that are found around the world, many states, cultures and countries, we may not understand each others languages or faiths but what we all unite together with is our love and passion for this great hobby of the keeping, breeding, showing and racing of pigeons.

Let the Goverments do what they do best, cock things up, millions of people within the UK are facing the worst christmas on record but you can bet Goverment ministers, Bank managers and members of the CBI will be having their turkey breast sliced extra thick unlike the millions hit by financial hardship who be lucky to buy pre-packed turkey that has been sliced with a laser. ( you know the stuff buy 1 get 1 free ). HANDS ACCROSS THE SEA mate, your definately no terrorist.

Agree that Politics should have no place on these sites.

That and religion should never - as far as I'm concerned - be allowed to take place here.

Yes sure the odd whinge / praise, but never allowed more than the 2 / 3 posts.

I amfor instance very socialist and could vent streams of unpleasantries regards the Conservative atroacites over the past 100 years. But equally a few for the Libs etc. Now who really wants to know! No one, everyone is entitled to their views etc. and as such it is couter active for all and any to voice them in as much it may well cloud, tint, or even cause an untoward bias against a great fanciers very helpful caring poster. So why should that be underlined by the way they may vote? None whatsoever as far as I am concerned.
