In the interest of the Federation's economics and continuing good health, here is an old chestnut of an idea. How about joint convoying? from let's say 150 miles to begin with as a test.

Of course that would be the sensible and most economical thing to do and would be of greatest benefit to the pigeons.

Who would we joint convoy with? Pentland Fed, East of Scotland and Scottish Borders - if they would have us.

Wouldn't it be great to have thousands of pigeons beating up the road from 200+ miles and breaking at the borders to the whole of South East Scotland.

I thought that the old "chip on the shoulder" would probably get in the way of this starter paper so I did a little research and produced a few FACTS, things that you rarely see in these emotional debates..

Pentland Fed were issued with approximately 8000 YB rings in 2012 and had approx 60 P pigeons on the YB National result.

Midlothian Fed were issued with approx 4000 YB rings in 2012 and had 3 ML pigeons on the YB National result.

What's so sacred about our Midlothian race programme, controlling and convoying??

Comments are welcome from all people who are willing to share THEIR open and honest opinion.

gets my vote to go to any race point and lib with pentland fed.g cairns and son. are you sure we only had 3 on yb nat result. who was the other fancier

To be perfetly honest if all those who are opposed to this idea were so concerned about the welfare of the future of pigeon racing instead of the politics behind it then it should not be a problem, but it will be the usual politics between Pentland and Midlothian that shall be the decider. My own opinion is the more pigeons coming up the east coast together the better. I think all federations concerned would benefit with better racing and better returns. LET'S ALL THINK OF THE PIGEON AND THE FUTURE OF PIGEON RACING FOR A CHANGE, instead of our grievences.

as for the price of birds on the pentland motor it was 25p per bird it is 35p per in our fed this year 50p at opens but still only 25p per bird on pentland. so we all would save a few quid going with them.as for control of birds liberation's.pentland fed have a good team for convoying birds and liberating them. if i am totally honest and don,t want an argument i would have more faith in raymond mcnamee (pentland conveyor) than my own fed for some races. even if it stayed at 35p per bird 25p to pentland for transport and 10 in to our fed funds. it makes sence to have a bigger convoy coming up the road.their is to much them and us like 2 football teames.we are all fanciers and want what best for our birds.

gary if you tell the truth you dont want what is best for the birds you want what is best for you with the more easterly drag of the birds you want the birds coming over the top of you .YOU are only interested in yourself if you are not interested in midlothian fed then you are welcome to go elswhere

i am happy whare i am but would be a lot happier with a few changes thanks.give it a thought 25p per birds save cash more birds coming up the road less chance of 1 of mine or yours getting hit by bop. more chance of getting through a clash with other feds. also birds would race faster as more birds = faster velocity. going with pentland fed for some races given the chance would benifit midlothian fanciers and birds. we keep hearing how bad pigeon racing is doing .time to try and get along we are all in the same area.

peter i don,t need the drag you only need to look at fed results for that.failing that look at name on top fed trophy,s it is not hard to miss

gary the fed is now starting to pick up due to some good house keeping and if the members would put a little more effort into things that the fed want to run to raise funds it could get a lot better as you will see when the balance sheet comes out

it is not the money side if we had a bigger convoy coming in to same area at the later races that would suite me.

I am an outsider and this is why the game is in the state it is to- day

Nice to hear some sensible posts from members on here. It doesnt make sense for transporters to be going to later races empty. I thought the last time we went together was a success.I must have missed something, maybe you could let us know in what way your Fed were ripped off Peter?

Found a nice piece of history from 2001 Tam, 9144 Birds - I can't think why I kept it - Midlothian sent 1497 and Pentland 836 - Dundee got their shot and I see a young Gus Simpson there as well.

The summary shows Angus, Central, Dundee, EOS, Fife, Midlothian, Pentland, North West, Scottish Borders and Aberdeen - the spirit of co-operation.

Brings back memories Tom. You got the other 2 Amal results from that season?
