Guest paulrstokes Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Hi Guys the first 100 are sold the day after the race. After that the birds are sold in batches of 30 to 40 at local pigeon clubs around South Africa, they will be 40 to 50 sales. there used to be real bargains to be had as a lot of the birds used to fetch £30ish. Now however you can bid online and that bid is carried forward. After the race go to their website and you will find a link called auctions. I think the rules getting them baqck here are now getting a little better however last year I spoke to someone that had previously bought a bird back and it too 14 months to get it home. I think theu have to go to America first, then Canada, then Belgium then the UK, they have to undergo quarantine at each stop??
R.A.M.C.63 Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Hi Guys Was speaking to Fancier 2 weeks ago, he mentioned that he tryed buy birds, think it was USA, but was told they ( could not export birds to UK, ur import rules no longer allows us too ANYMORE) Sounds like import rules maybe got Stricter?? maybe due to recent virus outbreaks. he,s not online but any info on rules etc will be past on. Cheers.

Guest paulrstokes Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 what amazes me is the entrants are sent on a plane direct from stanstread to Joburg collected and taken straight to the lofts yet in reverse it takes 14 months. Think the cost is around £350
