Guest bluemorning Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 put system restore disc in but you will loose all your files photos etc
THE FIFER Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 system restore will take you back to a different date does it not,
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 first off how far can you get in from turning the pc on also any specs you have for the laptop eg make model, windows version ect would help in figuring out the problem also are there any error messages or any popups coming up
greenlands Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 The system recovery disc will take you back to the time/date the disc was made, system restore will take you back to a selected date. Is the laptop starting up,what make is the laptop ??
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 put system restore disc in but you will loose all your files photos etc system restore will take you back to a different date does it not, windows system restore will change all windows system files back to the sate they were in on the date the restore point was created does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos so if a file is deleted or the virus is in there i doubt if it will help
wee ecky Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 still no luck the make is a toshiba
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 can you tell me what actually happens when you switch the laptop on ? and is there any letters or numbers next to the toshiba sign?
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 also is there anything saved on the laptop that you realy need to keep ?
wee ecky Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 it comes on saying wee ecky loged on when you try to log on a poster comes up saying pay 100 pounds only had it afew days and they will unlock it no there is nothing on laptop that needs saving ive only had it a few days
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 what about the model number? the best option would be a factory restore. all you need to do is when the computer turns on and the toshiba sign comes up on the screen. tap F8 key until a menu comes there should be a option for factory restore. then just follow the instructions on the screen useualy with toshiba its the f8 key but sometimes different models have different ways of getting into the menu but if you let me know the model i can find out the right key but try the f8 key in the mean time and see if it lets you in
wee ecky Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 still no luck toshiba europe g m b h g m r 310211eno
Guest Cawdy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 what happened when you pressed the F8 key ? And was the toshiba logo still on ? do you know what version of windows is running on the laptop ? ive checked the tosh website and its the F8 key thats lets you do the recovery but you need to tap F8 continuous un till the menu screen comes up heres a link to the toshiba site where it shows you step by step how to recover your laptop back to factory settings have a look and try it agin and let me know how you get on .
tiger Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 still no luck toshiba europe g m b h g m r 310211eno buy an other ye tight g it , lol

Walter swanston Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 I have had this trouble.I fixed it as follows.Press F8 continuously, the computer goes into safe mode then bring up system restore and go back to a suitable date then come out of safe mode and you are back in business.
wee ecky Posted October 22, 2012 Author Report Posted October 22, 2012 sorted thanks for all the help
Walter swanston Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Try downloading malware anti-bytes, I think its free and run it once a week
Guest bluemorning Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 system restore disc takes it back to factory settings
Guest paulrstokes Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Yep had this myself a police website saying I had been downloading naughty stuff and I have to pay 100. simply press F8 when booting up going into safe set up and restore from the date before you got the virus. Then when cleared run a scan
Roland Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Hi mucker. A. what did you do / actions to fix it?
soupie Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 sorted thanks for all the help did you restore system to an earlier date or wipe it and restore to factory settings ?? i wouldn't trust restore to an earlier date if you have got a virus btw in case some parts remain, complete wipe imo soupie
