The old boys reckon it's great when rearing also, I'm just worried about it's sugar content as it might create a barrier against worms, but no barrier against a yeast infection.

Even then I'd be worried about it's yeast feeding properties, especially as racing mixes these days are high in carbohydrates. I used to be a big advocate for honey a few years back now not so

never had a problem with yeast

Mark, do you use anything to change the ph of the water, or use lemon juice on your grain, as I know you advocate the use of brewers yeast? That would be the simple answer to why you wouldn't have had a yeast problem ever

yes I alternate lemon and grapefruit juice on corn when giving brewers yeast and live natural yoghurt every week of racing :) I must also add never had worms in years either on testing :) and I give cider vinegar in water on return for up to 3 days :)

The process of manufacturing black treacle begins when cane or beet sugar is put through a refinement process. In addition to granulated sugar, this process produces molasses and a series of by-products. When the molasses is boiled, it is converted into light treacle. With further boiling, it can then be transformed into black treacle

So if we have a cup of boiling water and drop a tea bag in it, is it still water or have we transformed the water into something else ???. lol

AND if Treacle is made from Cane Molasses ? Then its not cane molasses !!!

If you infuse water with tea the water will always be h2o with tanning the water has changed in both colour and taste but still mainly flavoured water with tannings , without the beginning product of sugar be it beet or cane molasses couldn't be made , it's still molasses is it not or perhaps there falsely naming there product ?????

was out the WEST INDIES with the Marines, and once visited a sugar factory, seeing the sugar being made from the sugar cane, and the extract from it was black treacle which if I remember rightly was then used for making rum, another one was away back when i was at school we had the old school nurse who was there to see to you if you were not well etc, and I remember some not so well off youngsters went once a week to her to get their small tin of treacle, what for I dont know, but must have had some form for health
