airdrie2 Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 I doubt that considering the date has been set for the Ayrshire meetingchill out lol
bibendium Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 The debate will be the same for Ayrshire as it is for Lanarkshire , not all of us want to revert back to the East. the proposal for the change has come from the race controller. I Have had as many losses this year as anyone but dont blame the race route entirely,
Guest the driver Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 Biggest deciding factor in this game is the weather constant east winds has done a lot of damage this season,no getting into debate about east v west cos bop are everywhere maybe some places worse than others but going east or west makes no differance imho
Novice Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 Biggest deciding factor in this game is the weather constant east winds has done a lot of damage this season,no getting into debate about east v west cos bop are everywhere maybe some places worse than others but going east or west makes no differance imho There is your answer Rikki--sending pigeons to racepoints and releasing them into temperatures of 5 degrees in a North Easterly wind will always increase losses and injuries due to exertion.Admittedly racing from the east in an easterly wind would have reduced losses. There is no guarantee what the wind direction will be when the race program is accepted but what we actually need is a more flexible progran at the early stages choosing east or west to suit the wind direction.Sensible fanciers do not compete when temperatures are as low as they have been this year.
bibendium Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 Tell us what you blame ,please ,? I think like Novice the easterly winds are a major factor ,there have been a few poor decisions made by fed officials with regards to liberation times conditions etc , I am not pointing the finger because these guys have their birds onboard too, and its a thankless job. some of my losses may have been down to me as well , ie loft management , but to blame the route is just plain wrong. last season I lost 50plus YB on the east route, as i am sure many others did , I will however support my fed and race where the majority want to race.
rikki Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I've been working in the borders for a number of weeks I had no idea of WAt a east wind was till working here my sympothies to all fanciers on the east ,at least our west wind is not cold ,
ovy1255 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Tell us what you blame ,please ,? this year you must look at the whole of the country------big big losses all over with libs ,not a good year for paper bag birds but sorts out those that want to get home, lost 10 one race but less to kull end of year, maybe race basket is better picker than me as some that went down would of been kept for next year-----what a sport this pigeon racing is and if your balmy you can also take a race controllers job.
