Amember of my club had a pigeon come back from Clermont tonight with no electronic ring on, fortunate for him it was his second pigeon but he would have been 3rd club and still high up in the fed. Why do it, if these people are found out they should be barred from the sport The bird was back about 8.00 he thinks, as he was at the headquaters logging his first bird in.I agree the ring could have come loose in the basket, but i'm sure all rings were checked before basketing as there was only 13 sent from wor club and it's not the first time this has happened

agree m8, what you must watch is a ets ring has 2 clips its always best to clip it twice, as possibly they could come off in the basket, not saying this was the case, was the bird home in time , did it have time to drop into someone,

whos to say the birds been in anywhere and with the time and position i doubt it has

as said before there rings can become brittle and break if the bird hits something

also seen an ets ring in a basket after i libbed my trainers

they can come off especially if only clipped into the 1st slot

at marking ive seen a few birds with rings hanging off

just inform the owner and clip them on again

I had a bird back without his ring and like you I was very angry but when I thought about it I was wrong. The bird had a nasty injury to his leg and in spite of that he was third Club in a short race. I reckon that he must have got caught up somewhere because he woud not have had time to go in anywhere.

Maybe it would be worth having a word with Bricon to see if there is any way the rings can be made specific to the purchaser unless the Club releases to ring to a new owner. If this could be done the rings would be worth nothing to the ring thieves. What do you think?

Are you implying that it called into a loft etc. fed and watered and had it's ring took off, yet still would have finished third and well up in the Fed! I don't think so personally.

Think one is given a bad name scenario when undeserved .

Any way, personally, if my pigeon calls into a loft and then makes it way home,- It wouldn't be in the club / fed placings - I'd be pleased if the ring had been taken off. At least I ould know it had been A. fed and watered and released and been in another loft and have no illusions as to it's worth and merit. And that would be a cheaper, yet well spent £1 30!

Member came to mark birds at club last week one bird had no ets ring on but had been timed previous week so it seems their is a bit of a problem with them coming off with getting caught on something as this one had gone whilst being at home

Club mate had the same prob the clip on ones falling off at training tosses etc so he knew they were not being removed

George is this the new small chip ring to fit the new rings that are coming off

No sure mate was just speaking to a club mate he has briconthey look like wee bands that go round the ring

the rings have 2 clips on them, you are always better putting it on the second one as they do come off, another thing is some put them on upside down, which works at times but always safer having the chip to the bottom,

I have seen this debate many times before.

2 weeks running at our club whilst basketing we had noticed a bird struggling in the basket.

Upon closer inspection, the bird had the leg of the drinker caught inside the ets ring and when the bird struggled the ring popped open.

Just another explanation
