just ask me Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 what do members do to help birds recover from a tough race like a good few members had yesterday
Tony C Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Two things, rest them until they're back till there normal self then a couple of short tosses on good days.
blackdog Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 rests the best tonic you can give them, hope you lads get a good few working back in the next few days.
leslie24williams49 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 rests the best tonic you can give them, hope you lads get a good few working back in the next few days.treat it as a channel race...2 or 3 weeks rest ..should be ok then...
leslie24williams49 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Rest and a nice bath is the answer after yesterdays debacle another nice bath, and another, and so on..the worst race i have experienced in over 50 yrs.racing pigeons..what on earth was the convoyer thinking of..absolutely disgusting. welsh s.r.
just ask me Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 did hear of shocking returns some were as low as 20 or 30 birds home from 170 or so in some clubs after some trucks had pulled away from race points other stayed and released
OLDYELLOW Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 after yesterdays debacle another nice bath, and another, and so on..the worst race i have experienced in over 50 yrs.racing pigeons..what on earth was the convoyer thinking of..absolutely disgusting. welsh s.r.I look at it like this , my birds will go up no mater the wind / weather so if think there going to get a battering and there not up to it I'd leave them at home , but I seriously think that we all should be looking in to racing starting in May avoid fattening the bops up and if raced Saturdays and Wednesdays we'd soon catch up with the race programmes , but as mentioned elsewhere too many feds at same spots liberating with very little time between liberations and most from same areas batches returning back to site then another liberation smashing in to them plus the added crap weather and north east wind to contend with . No wonder lots of birds are missing from there lofts this weekend should of been cancelled , however I've had good returns .
yeboah Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Best tonic is do what i done and keep them at home, what chance has the Raptor Alliance got when 100's of birds are chucked away for the sake of someone getting back home Beggers Belief ,We are fortunate having an excellent race controller and convoyer for our own Federation.
victorious Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 worst weather ive ever saw in 30/40 years for racing pigeons although i got mine all home many had birds missing 170 mile north easterly god help the birds ,really puts me off racing as it will take 2/3 weeks to get them up again and due to bad weather every weekday we cant train properly idont have a reserve team ,o and i work so if the morning is bad then no training for me somtimes i really wonder is it really worth it,i do really believe climate change is here to stay, today in northern ireland its that friggin cold in my garden my hands wer purple feeding the birds, any way good luck to all hope your birds way in.
sapper756 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 plenty of rest and a warm bath to relax them, then begin to prepare for their next race.
